When your parent can no longer care for themselves, and you realize you simply don't have the resources to keep them safe, you realize that it's time to find a place for them. I felt guilt, anger and frustration that I was letting mom down. We toured many facilities in Central Oregon and finally settled on Mt. Bachelor. They certainly made us feel welcome and it looked like a good place for mom.

It's been 3 months now, and we couldn't be happier. All the staff knew mom by first name right away. The food is great, they have daily activities, and it's always bright and clean. Mom tells me often that she really likes living at 'her new place', and that everyone there is kind.

We know from first hand experience how frustrating it can be to care for someone going through dementia. The patience and skill the staff shows is a great comfort to us. If you're facing this difficult decision, we highly recommend you come look.

Please be sure to thoroughly review all feedback before considering this facility. While it may initially seem impressive, our experience suggests otherwise. Recently, I was seeking assistance for my relative due to a lack of staff attention. While searching for help, I observed two employees—a Caucasian female with black hair and bangs, and an African American male with an afro—entering what appeared to be a spa or washroom together. This occurred while help alarms were sounding, and they seemed to be engaging in personal interactions, seemingly ignoring their duties. This level of unprofessionalism is deeply concerning. I am genuinely disturbed that on-duty employees would neglect residents by concealing themselves to engage in such behavior

I had my father at Mt Bachelor Assisted Living for over 2 years, and visited him 4-5 times a week, so I spent a lot of time there. The facility itself is newer, so impressive compared to others in Bend. There is a core staff of 6 caregivers who were wonderful, but getting to know them, they were unhappy with the management. They stayed because they cared about the residents, and I truly appreciated them. Other caregivers came and went with high turnover. I had frustrations with the management and lack of response to my concerns primarily from the resident care coordinator. I learned to pick my battles, like the 2 times I found some of his meds sitting in the cup, or the time there was a Covid sign posted on his door by mistake. He hadn’t tested positive, it was placed on the wrong door. And lastly, when he had a stroke, and I wasn’t told the extent of his condition until the second fall that night when the EMT’s took him to the hospital. Each instance, the nurse or general manager would apologize, say they will review the procedures, but talking with other relatives of residents, we all had similar frustrations.
My father was there when it was run by Frontier Management. The same company that runs Aspen Ridge. He is now in a foster care home run by a RN and I couldn’t be happier with the level of care and love he receives.
Be sure to read all the reviews. Many are based on the survey given by the referral companies like the one I used, after a tour, so their high score is not relevant.

Our family made a collective decision to convalesce our father at Mt. Bachelor Memory Care. From the administrators to the caretakers and each person in-between our family and our father was treated with dignity and respect. His care team went above and beyond their duties whether it be morning, noon or night to support his health and safety. Communication is very important to us and so we were pleased that the communication with the staff was reciprocal. It made a difficult transition less stressful. The facility is airy, open, bright and clean. If you are in need of quality care for your loved one, we highly recommend Mt. Bachelor Memory Care.
