1 star This facility is borderline neglectful. Showers were promised once a week, but first one was finally given after 13 days of residency. Medication was late, leading to high level pain that otherwise could have been managed. No one took responsibility, or even apologized. When concerns were raised, scorn, defensiveness and passing the blame resulted. Visits to the nursing station had numerous employees sitting around, on their cell phones and displaying annoyance when approached about a patent's needs. Floor Unit Managers had similar lack of empathy or ownership, with more excuses. There are many people with different roles assigned to the patient, and none seem to know what the other is doing or saying, including the treating doctor. There is no warmth, empathy, or patient focus. The first Care Conference was only scheduled by the staff in the last week days before the discharge date, rather than timely to actually address the overall care plan. Even then, one key team member was not present (Rehabilitation - the main purpose of the stay). Contact numbers for key facility personnel were given, but calls to Director of Rehab just rang and rang, with no voicemail so no way to directly contact. When discharge date was fast approaching, the facility was not prepared - had not scheduled the promised in-home assessment visit that was to take place prior to discharge for timely home modifications; no discharge orders prepared by the doctor; had not ordered the promised medical equipment that was to be transported home with the patient; had not started preauthorization for in-home PT/OT. They seem to assume that the patient will just stay until the facility does what they need to do when they choose to do it, regardless of cost. Family needs to be very involved and active, as the elderly patient will otherwise be at risk of being taken advantage of and neglected. The only saving grace was Brent in PT. He was skilled, attentive, communicative, took responsibility, timely, consistent, patient-focused, and productive.
