Our Pledge for the Best in Memory Care

PROTECT, ENGAGE & LOVE

When a loved one has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or dementia, it’s hard to know where to turn and who to trust. Of course you want them to receive the very best in treatment and care. But you also want them to be treated as an adult with a unique story, someone with personal preferences, abilities and dignity. That is why we make this pledge to you:

•    We will answer all of your questions honestly and completely.
•    We will seek to discover all that is unique and special about your loved one, including their lifetime story and family experiences.
•    We will provide a purpose-filled environment for your loved one that is person-centered to fit their special needs, goals and abilities.
•    We will provide your loved one with highly trained professionals with a passion to serve.

We will keep you and your family connected and involved in every aspect of their care.

Person-Centered Care

We sweat the small stuff here – each resident is honored for who they are and for their past, active lives. Everything we do is centered on the uniqueness of each individual. Our programs are tailored to fit each resident’s special qualities, preferences, and abilities and no one else’s. Taking this approach helps pave the way to a stronger connection with family, other residents and the environment around them.

We strive to make our residents feel connected to staff, each other and volunteers in ways appropriate to them. To do that consistently well, we maintain best-in-class staffing ratios allowing our staff to focus solely on caregiving and enabling them to support our residents with kindness and patience.

We are always accountable to residents through mandatory 30-minute communication meetings at care shift changes.  We like to think of this as “friendly competence”.

Technology in Service of Care

We believe in using technology, not as a replacement to care, but to augment and enhance the experience of your loved one.  That is why we use the highly innovative It's Never 2 Late™ (iN2L) interactive programs, that allow residents, regardless of ability level, to use special on-line programs for recreation, learning, mental stimulation, and even to communicate with their loved ones.

Better Together

Multigenerational programs bring smiles and delight to both young and old. We call these programs “Better Together”. We schedule regular visits from student volunteers and trips to local schools to allow residents to engage with young people. This provides an opportunity for shared moments full of smiles and laughter. And, what many find amazing is that these visits often help stimulate memories along the way.

Pet Visits

Animals bring with them a unique therapy of their own. Through local partnerships, we are able to provide regular animal visits; and they never fail to bring joy and delight. The positive effects of pet therapy on seniors are well known; but you need only see their faces light up when a friendly animal walks into our center to understand its amazing impact.

Custom Menus & Nutrition

Nutrition is critical to the health and wellness of those with cognitive impairment. This is why we provide a very specialized menu for each of our residents. We work together with you and your loved one's physician to determine the most beneficial nutrition and meal plan. Then we let our chefs go to work to make every meal as tasty and appealing as it is nutritious.

Irene Mendoza is truly the best! She is very helpful and kind and goes above and beyond to ensure that everyone is taken care of- both patients and families. Morningside is so lucky to have her.

My mom spent the final 2 years of her long Alzheimer’s journey at Morningside Place. I felt good about the facility and the care she received. The facility has plenty of staff and staffing seemed stable with lots of the same faces over those 2 years. It’s is no small challenge caring for, keeping track of and entertaining 65 memory impaired individuals! Morningside handles that challenge well. Most memory care places I looked at are part of a combined assisted living and memory care with only 15 or so dedicated memory beds. This made a lot of those memory care facilities feel like quiet ghost towns. My mom was a social, active person. Morningside, being all memory care and having 65 residents, was always full of activity with lots of residents and staff walking around and spending time in the common areas. For my social mother, this was the right spot for her to be in and feel part of a community.

I have made every attempt contacting the coordination office to volunteer for myself and my daughter. I have sent in all of our background documents, emailed multiple times, I have called and left a message for Frank Trimboli to no avail. This is unfortunate. I received the following email from Mr. Trimboli, "I read your google review this morning and felt terrible.Jessica hasn't been with us since late October, and I had not been checking the email correspondence going through the activities director box." My response, "Mr. Trimboli, Attached you will find an email thread from my 11/22 response and then another follow up email dated 11/27. Both of which were sent to the email address for which you initiated below. I then called on 12/8 and spoke with a woman at the front desk for approximately 4 minutes and she took my name and phone number, as well as the dates above, to pass along to you. This issue isn't with Jessica leaving your office; the issue is accountability. Not only did you not respond to me until I wrote a review; you also diverted the blame to not checking an inbox that was unnecessary as you were already cc'd on them. This act alone is a foretelling of how your organization runs and I do not believe it is in my best interest, nor my daughter's, to be affiliated with a business who is run by an individual that places blame on someone who is not around to defend themselves and blatantly leaves out pertinent details such as the fact that you, too, were copied on the correspondence therefore would not need access to another's inbox in order to have access to my inquiries."

My mom has been a resident at Morningside Place for about 3 years. Overall, she is healthier now, has put on much needed weight, seems happy, and is getting PT and OT regularly. I believe the people there truly do care. There was one incident that was upsetting, but the management took care of it quickly, listened to my concerns, and things have greatly improved since. The activities planned are great, and the residents seem to enjoy them! We went in one day during exercise time and it looked fun! Thank you for the love and care you show our family members. ♥️
