Update: They moved me to another room. It is smaller. Harder for them to use the lift to get in and out of bed. The wifi is so weak I can't do school work or watch YouTube. My roommate has her TV so loud I get a headache. Male residents don't belong in females rooms unless wanted in there. Seems like every night or at least 4 or 5 nights a week. Same Male resident enters my room, and tonight I had to call the front desk to get staff to come get him. It took 20 minutes for staff to come get him. Recently had surgery and should not be screaming to get him out my room. Come Monday I will ask to be moved to another part of Medilodge.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My grandfather was transferred here for rehab after a weeklong Stay at the hospital. I would often pop in at random times to check on him especially in the morning and midnight staff had left him soaked in his own urine , I was also told that one of his midnight aids that was attending to him left three hours prior to her shift ending so he was left three hours without an aid Not to mention in the afternoon, I’ve watched a specific aid come 15-20 minutes late for her shift with a terrible bedside manner. The physical therapist who originally seen him to come up with a “plan” had the worst attitude ever asking “well what can we do for you” I don’t know … maybe your job??? I had also specifically asked for my grandfather to be out of bed in the morning to eat his breakfast considering he was just in the hospital for a lung issue, and I did not want him to aspirate yet he was still in bed when I would arrive eating meals in bed (sometimes they wouldn’t even let him know breakfast was there and they would not cut it up) and when he would get up in the wheelchair, they would leave the big oxygen tank on the back of the wheelchair which dug into his back.. in which once case I came in and it was completely empty. He was there for one week before we decided to pull him out and he had only received one shower even though every morning he was soaked in urine… the room he stayed in was absolutely filthy and I have photos to back that up. I did sit down and have a talk with the director of nursing, which got me nowhere. The Communication between staff is very poor, even after leaving a note in the room stating certain things . There was only maybe 2 aides and 2 nurses I have seen in the whole week he was there that seemed to love their job everyone else made it seem like a paycheck. My grandfather said he’d press his call button and no one would come , and he’d have to scream for help just to use the bathroom so he wouldn’t soil himself … completely unacceptable… My grandfather has been home for two days and is already capable of walking to the bathroom by himself and getting up on his own rather than laying in a bed and rotting away when needing the help he needed to get stronger. This place should be investigated and I will be speaking with his insurance in regards to his stay …my family and I were doing most or some days ALL of your your aides work, I’m so glad we made the decision to bring him home. I would not send my worst enemy here.

A friend was placed in Medilodge (East China) for rehab. I have never been in a medical facility that was so disgusting. The smell walking down the hallways is nauseating. The bathroom which she had to share with three other people needed a thorough cleaning. I asked the aide where the railings were for the bed and she said they are not allowed to have railings. Maybe that’s why you hear of so many patients falling out of bed and breaking a hip or worse. I do not blame the workers because they are understaffed. Before my friend could start rehab, family pulled her out and found another facility. The State of Michigan Health and Human Services need to make an unannounced visit. Before you place your loved one and this facility do a walk-through in all areas. I can guarantee you will be looking elsewhere. Again, nothing against the staff, just the owners.

This place needs the health department to step in and take over. Filthy and smells. My poor loved one had to stay here and I left immediately wanting to take a shower. Take better care of your facility, these poor patients don’t deserve to have dirty heat boards filled with dust and grim and disgusting carpet they can trip on.

My husband Albert was in rehab and dialysis treatment recently and he was treated very well. The staff were so friendly, thoughtful and kind. Very kind and a delight to be around! The rehab ladies were wonderful in helping him to reach his goals. The food was pretty undesirable but other than that, we were very happy with the StClair Medilodge.
