My dad came to live at McClellan over a year ago because he has some health issues and was having falls at home. He just couldn't live at home alone anymore. We decided assisted living was the best solution. He now has staff to help with his needs and make sure he gets his medication on time. I can come visit any time and I live close, only about 15 minutes away. I can take him out for lunch or to my house any time I want. That was a point in favor for this facility ,and it's close to my work. I work third and I often stop by after my shift in the morning. He enjoys the activities especially the Bible study and bingo. They have singing and sometimes a church group comes and sings. They try and have various activities for everyone. Wal-Mart trip, out to eat at restaurants, arts and crafts, and fun dress up days. The facility is decorated more like a home and very pretty. The halloween party is a big hit. And now it's christmas time and it's is so pretty over there now with the decorations. Dad is happy and has meet new friends and has a good size room. His bathroom is handicapped and he has a good shower to use with some assistance. He has independence but help when he needs it. It is a good arrangement for him and less worry and stress for me. It is a good place. They let me know if there is anything that I should be concerned of and then we can plan accordingly. The staff is polite and do seem to care about the residents they are helping. I would recommend McClellan to a family if you are looking into assisted living for a loved one.
