About Martha T Berry Medical Care Facility

Martha T. Berry Medical Care Facility is a skilled nursing facility in Mount Clemens, Michigan, founded by Macomb County in 1950. The facility was established largely through the generosity of the late Dr. Henry G. Berry, a physician who practiced in Macomb County for approximately 50 years, and was named in memory of his wife, Martha Taylor Berry. It is governed by the County Board of Commissioners and overseen by an appointed Board of Social Services.

The facility serves as a safety net for frail elders with little or no financial means to obtain care. Martha T. Berry provides both transitional care as a bridge between hospital and home and extended stays with continued care and assistance for those requiring long-term skilled nursing care.

As one of over 30 county-owned facilities in Michigan, Martha T. Berry is a member of the Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council. The facility maintains a staffing level higher than eight out of ten facilities in the state and emphasizes compassionate care, ethical practices, and continuous quality improvement.

I cannot say enough good things about this facility. During the short time our aunt lived there, she had exceptional care. As a nurse myself, I appreciated the communication and quick action from staff when any health issue arose. She loved the staff there. After our aunt passed we went to clean her room. Staff offered assistance and cried with us. We received a lovely vase of flowers after her passing. Thank you so very much for everything you did for her and our family.

Tried to get my grandmother in there, she is not doing well at her current home and I am having a hard time finding a place that accepts her insurance. I visited here and it seemed nice but they wouldn’t take my grandmother with no reason. They gave me no reason on why they wouldn’t take her. They discriminate against people who don’t fit their criteria which is ridiculous. She needs somewhere to go and for whatever reason, this place denies you for no good reason. It’s a joke. Don’t take your loved ones here, I heard it’s managed horribly.

My Mom is a Resident at Martha T Berry. She has been there for over a year. The Care that she receives has been Exceptional. As a nurse of 24+ years, I am so happy with what I see here. Qualified, Warm and Compassionate staff. My Mom and our family is always treated with the utmost Respect and Professionalism. My Mom's issues are addressed promptly. Facility is clean, the food is "delicious," according to my Mom, and they do their best to meet her needs Physically, Mentally, and Spiritually. We could not ask for a better place for our Mom. I highly recommend Martha T Berry.

My mother was a resident for several years. I cannot tell you how grateful I was for the attention and care she received. The staff kept me aware of any changes whether with administrative policies or my mother's medication and food. My mother was difficult in her dementia, but the staff was very good to her. The library, activities, gardens, etc. were beautiful touches. When it came time for hospice, I couldn't have been more pleased with their attentiveness. I am glad I found MTB.
