The staff was friendly and pleasant but I cannot say how disappointing it was that after my elderly mother fell, and sustained a blunt force trauma they avoided designating her a fall with injury as would have been required. I found her in pain in her room moaning "my back my back" when she heard my voice. What i saw was shocking, she had a big bruise that i photographed and also video taped to show staff she was actually n pain so they could properly treat this. I took great care to talk with the staff to let them know she was not feeling ok. One of the staff walked by and said, "oh i heard your mother fell..." and when i said, I was concerned that people would not know she was in pain, she said, "i know i could tell she was in pain, i was surprised that it wasn't in her chart!" at which point i had said for them to make sure to chart this properly, so she could get adequate care. They never did and i left her room for 20 minutes returned to find that she had been moved, to the couch and slid off and was laying unmoving on the ground. I have a video and photos preserved and the whole situation was mishandled. My mother said on video she fell so hard she thought she "had died." yet this was never put in her chart so they moved her again. This is a private assisted and nursing home and the failure to identify falls with injury result in sub standard care and it is often the case that falls are misclassified. Unfortunately they dismissed this. I will be forwarding their information to regulatory bodies, in the mean time i would not put a loved one here.
