I wanted Loyalhanna to be a great place for my 80 yr old mom with dementia.

I was told when visiting Loyalhanna Suites & considering, that they had several other dementia residents & they are housed on the 4th floor, furthest from the door.
Unfortunately, weeks after moving in, the day of their Mother's Day brunch, we left my mom in her room around 1:15. At 4:15, I received a call that she was found laying on the ground near the front of the nursing home next door. No one was aware she was missing, when she walked herself out or how long she was laying there injured, unable to get up. It was obvious that she was laying outside in the rain. My mom spent almost a week in the hospital & over a week in a rehab facility after.

Hoping Loyalhanna's planned changes would keep her safe, i received a call in the following weeks around 9 pm, that my mom was spotted by a off-duty employee walking along the road, towards downtown Latrobe. Again, she left unnoticed & unaware to all of the staff that she was missing.
This is unacceptable for any resident in a personal care facility.
I obviously moved her out for her safety.

I do appreciate the staff members that were kind & cared about her during her short time there. Its obvious who cares & who doesnt.

It is basically a very expensive, random appt building. That is how they regard it as well.
