I recommend you choose a different Assisted living facility in the area. Many internal issues with nursing, management, and accounting. Their ration of nurses and CNA's to residents is not up to PA requirements. Administrator tends to point blame for all areas to her staff and does not take accountability. Billing is handled out of state, thus NEVER reflects the correct dollar amount on invoices. Other facilities offer so much more and for a lower cost.

When my mother turned 98 it was becoming more difficult for me to maintain the proper level of care at home, that i felt she needed. Being involved in health care for over 3 decades and thus being in numerous care facilities, I have seen the good, bad and sometimes appalling nature of care facilities. With all these experiences in mind the decision to have mom resided at Brookdale was the correct move. Being a business owner I looked at the total package of what Brookdale has to offer. My mother has resided there for 18 months and I couldn't be more pleased with the care that she has and is currently receiving. It started with the administrators who were so helpful and knowledgeable in guiding my sister and I's decision to seek entry into this premium care facility. They made the transitition smooth and as painless as possible for my mother and our family. After mom was settled in, the activity staff encouraged her to participate in the many daily activities, which yield a true family community feeling. Mom currently attends two group exercise classes daily (upper and lower extremities) which have greatly contributed to supporting her strength and well being. The activity staff are all caring, loving and knowledgeable in the care of seniors. The care team of Latrobe Brookdale are very patient and caring for my mother and the other residents. I witness their dedication and caring attitudes every time I am there. Even after 18 months of visiting at Brookdale several times a week, I am always amazed but the love, support and encouragement provided by the staff. That applies not only to physical care, but also to emotion support that is truly genuine. I have never felt that the level of staffing is insufficient, whch i have experienced while visiting other care facilities in the area. The infrastructure of Latrobe Brookdale is well maintained. The rooms (dining areas, activity rooms, and courtyards) are always clean and obstacle free. The hallways are similarly maintained. The last area that I would like to address is the excellent food that is served to the residents. I eat with my mother at least once every 2 weeks and I am always impressed, not only with the variety of the menu and possible substitutes available, but also the balanced nutrition that is provided. In my opinion the meals are of restaurant quality and are often served on cloth covered tables by friendly servers. In summary after 18 months of my mother receiving loving care at Latrobe Brookdale, I could not be more pleased with the decision to have her reside here. Dr David Deglau

I have been so pleased with the care that my mom has received since moving in to Brookdale Latrobe. It's such a difficult decision when making such a big transition and I feel confident in the choice we made for my mom to be at Brookdale. The staff has been incredible; so friendly and I'm so impressed that they all take the time to know the name of each resident. The nursing staff has been incredible in handling all of my mom's heath concerns. It is such a wonderful feeling to know that my mom is so well cared for and that she is safe.

We found Brookdale Latrobe through Care Patrol. We toured in December and my mom moved in a month later. There is a comfortable vibe there which I didn’t get from other places we toured. I also like that they have some staff members with 20+ years working there. I live out of state, so I had to communicate via phone and email a lot. Vonda and Shawn made the process very easy and pretty stress-free. My mom says she is very happy with her care, the people are very nice and hasn’t had a bad meal yet.:) Everyone we’ve dealt with seems kind and helpful to my mom! John the social director is wonderful! He’s always including the residents in on fun activities! I was recently there for St. Patrick’s Day and was included in the festivities. It’s hard being so far from my mom, but I feel like she is getting great care from Brookdale Latrobe! Thank you for all you do for the residents and families! ~Tracey K.
