Longleaf Neuro-Medical Treatment Center

Longleaf Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is a specialized skilled nursing facility in Wilson, North Carolina, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The center provides 24-hour skilled nursing care and specialized support for adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that coexist with neurodevelopmental disorders, neurocognitive disorders, or severe and persistent mental illness.

The facility offers expertise in treating intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as specialized care for people with neurocognitive disorders related to Alzheimer's disease and related dementias whose behavioral health needs exceed community-based support options. The center also serves adults with severe and persistent mental illness whose treatment needs can no longer be met in acute psychiatric settings and require specialized skilled nursing care.

Residents at Longleaf require 24-hour supervision, daily nursing care, and assistance with activities of daily living. Clinical care is provided for individuals meeting skilled nursing facility level of care criteria with complex medical or behavioral support needs and no available community-based alternatives at the time of referral.

A Human Rights Committee composed of five members knowledgeable about mental health and nursing care issues provides additional safeguards for protecting the human, civil, legal, and treatment rights of residents. The Volunteer Services Department at Longleaf works to provide tangible and intangible supports to people living at the center in an effort to improve their quality of life, with community support playing a critical role in achieving this goal.
