About LifeCare Hospice

LifeCare Hospice is a home health and hospice provider serving Wooster, Ohio. The organization offers in-home end-of-life care and support services including nursing, social work, chaplaincy, and pain management for patients and families navigating serious illness.

Families who had positive experiences consistently praised the clinical responsiveness and emotional support of the nursing and care teams. Several noted that staff members were attentive, empathetic, and moved quickly to address medical needs, one family described receiving a catheter adjustment visit within 20 minutes. Families also highlighted the coordination across services, with one noting the organization "cut through red tape and get services fast," and mentioned the value of chaplaincy and social work support during end-of-life transitions.

However, the reviews reveal significant inconsistency. A smaller number of families reported serious concerns: inadequate follow-up, discharge decisions they felt were premature or poorly explained, and interactions with individual staff members they experienced as dismissive or uncaring. These accounts suggest variable quality depending on which team members and circumstances are involved.

LifeCare Hospice holds a 4.2 out of 5 star rating based on 37 Google reviews, reflecting a polarized response in which strong positive experiences coexist with substantial complaints about care coordination and staff conduct.

Our family will be forever grateful to Ohio's Hospice LifeCare for the extraordinary care, compassion, and support they provided to our father, John "Jack" Welling, during his final days.

Dad entered hospice on a Thursday and passed away peacefully at home the following Monday. Everything happened so suddenly, and those few days were truly a whirlwind for our family. Yet from the very beginning, the Ohio's Hospice LifeCare team brought a sense of calm and reassurance during an overwhelming time.

Within a day, a hospital bed was delivered and set up, supplies arrived promptly, medications were arranged, and we were supported by intake nurses, social workers, and caregivers who guided us every step of the way. Every interaction was marked by kindness, professionalism, and genuine compassion. They took the time to explain what to expect, answer our questions, and ensure that both Dad and our family had everything we needed.

Perhaps what meant the most was that we were not alone when Dad passed. The nurse and social worker who were with us that day provided tremendous comfort and support during one of the most difficult moments our family has ever experienced. Their calm presence, compassion, and guidance will never be forgotten.

Because of Ohio's Hospice LifeCare, Dad was able to spend his final days at home, surrounded by family and familiar comforts. We are profoundly grateful for the dignity and respect they showed him and for the care they extended to all of us.

One thing we learned through this experience is that hospice is not just end-of-life care—it is compassionate care for every stage of the journey. Looking back, we only wish we had understood that sooner and engaged LifeCare's services earlier. For any family considering hospice support, our advice would be: don't wait. The education, resources, and support they provide are invaluable, not only for the patient, but for the entire family.

Thank you for helping us navigate a difficult journey with such grace and compassion. We will always remember and appreciate the incredible difference you made in our lives.

— The Welling Family

This hospice helped me with my Mama earlier this year for in home hospice. Mom was on it only a couple of weeks, before she passed away. In that time, I met several hospice nurses and social workers, etc. They were all lovely people, even in the middle of the night. They showed empathy and concern to help manage pain and anxiety of dealing with end stage COPD. They helped me get everything needed in a fast timeframe. I greatly appreciate hospice services. I have a very high opinion of hospice in general, and this particular one is a very good one. I have zero negative comments about them. They are a blessing!

Back during Covid 2020 ish. My mom was sick and was not going to live long. This place told my dad shes taking to long to die and forced her to go to a nursing home. We offered to pay out of pocket but they refused. They then proceeded to force us to take my mom to a nursing home where we could not visit her because of covid and she died a month later. They also keep sending us mail asking for donations. Which is neat.
