I don’t even want to give a one star rating! My advice is definitely not send your loved one there unless they are capable of caring for their own basic needs. Legacy stays shorthanded and very few actually care or have the time for someone that needs extra care. We were there every day for about 8 weeks. When we asked for help or needs it took hours or days and if they even did it at all. It could be something simple but needed. Example they removed her arm sling for the wash It took 4 days to put her arm sling back on. No exaggeration here, 4 days and that was after asking them every day to please put it back on! Once she was all but falling out of her wheelchair before they came to take her out after I asked several times, it was so bad that I had to hold her from falling out until they finally came. I once asked for a chair for her elderly husband and was given a broken chair!! Unbelievable I know!! While we were there for 4-6 hours every day they never came in to check her briefs or turn her that is until a few days before we transferred her they got word we were taking her out. Then they acted like they couldn’t help her enough! After about 8 weeks of neglect from the Legacy nursing home she was transferred to Landmark and they did what they could but it was too late, she died six days later. I could say so much more but it already sounds unbelievable that this place is still open!! My Aunt went there after having fractures from a fall, she was not sick when she arrived, but we are convinced we lost my dear Aunt because of Legacy nursing home neglect, which is a failure to provide necessary care for residents health, safety and well being.

Since my son had to be placed in the nursing home because of special care he need and couldn't be given at home, this nursing home is awesome. the care he receives is excellent and I'm notified of anything that changes with him. the staff if very friendly and help anyway they can.

I lived there. Roaches, mice and terrible food. Some of the staff are very nice and helpful. A big turnover in the nursing department. Miss Jennifer was my favorite nurse. The staff in house keeping was pitiful with only one person trying her hardest to get things done right. The administrator doesn't listen to the patients. Generally, it was OK....

Nursing homes are an undeniable excellent concept. But the problem is our constant moral rotting human race. Many of them become employees at nursing homes. When we can no longer care for a love one, allowing someone else to do it will just have to do. Approaching this with the notion that all nursing home staff will love up on our love one as much as we do is just being naive. At Legacy, count on many of their staff to do the very minimum in care and that’s only barely keeping them alive. Many staff are annoyed by any request from residents and are extremely rude to them. Owners of Legacy, when hiring, we know you can’t see the bitter hearts of these applicants, so consider using attached bed-cams (camera) in each residents room. This would greatly improve your staff’s behavior or attitude with communicating with the residents. That will certainly help your ratings and offer a more favorable “word-of-mouth” about your facility in Plaquemine, LA. Do better!

I don't normally leave comments, but this comment may save someone the heartache from losing a love one. This place is horrible! My father passed about a month ago in this place. My family and I was in the process of trying to get him out of this (barn yard)!!! Some of the staff had nasty attitudes. My father had horrible bed sore due to not being turned. The staff is more concerned with their general conversations with their co-workers instead of the residents who needs their attention. There have been times(more than once)when my dad feeding tube wasn't properly connected or they forget to turn it back on. The place smells like urine and feces. I wouldn't recommend to this place to anyone!
