My mother was a patient at Lawrence Street Skilled Nursing Center for a few weeks prior to her passing on March 31st, and unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing and concerning.
From the moment she arrived, the environment felt neglected. Her room was dreary, with no artwork or any attempt to create a comforting or uplifting space. The television provided was no larger than a laptop screen, forcing our family to bring in a proper TV ourselves just so she could have something to watch. Overall, the room felt depressing and unwelcoming during an already difficult time.
We chose this facility because we were told there were very limited nursing homes that could properly accommodate patients requiring BiPAP/CPAP support. Based on that, we trusted this center to meet my mother’s medical needs. That trust was misplaced.
When we asked about heart-healthy meal options, we were told by both the dietician and staff that no dietary variations were available. Instead, they indicated that residents with special dietary needs were managed with medications rather than appropriate nutrition. This was very concerning given my mother’s condition and the importance of proper diet in her care.
Most alarming was the handling of my mother’s medically necessary BiPAP machine. Staff members took it apart and lost a critical component. Despite repeated concerns, no one—including the respiratory therapist—took meaningful action to locate or replace the missing part. I ultimately had to improvise a temporary fix myself using a plastic lid sleeve and a rubber band I found at the nurse’s station, which helped seal the tubing so the machine could be used. Even after I got the machine functioning again, staff only placed her on it for about one hour, despite clear instructions that she needed a minimum of four hours daily to properly purge carbon dioxide from her system.
I communicated this requirement multiple times over several days, yet it was not followed. My mother passed away on March 31st after being there for only a few weeks.
After receiving the call that she had passed, our family arrived at the facility only to find no one present at the entrance to greet or assist us. We had to search for staff for help during an already devastating moment.
In the days that followed, we received no outreach from the facility—no condolences, no follow-up, no communication whatsoever. The only correspondence we have received since her passing has been a bill in the mail. The complete lack of accountability or compassion strongly suggests a disregard for the seriousness of what occurred.
I would urge anyone considering this facility to carefully evaluate other options. Our experience raises serious concerns about patient care, communication, and overall responsibility.

Update 7/15/2026: Lawrence tried to act in their reply to my review how sorry they were to hear of our experience. This included them saying Cory would reach out. Still waiting.....crickets...... Just forget it at this point. The fact that you never reached out after she passed nor reached out after my review when you said you would just proves my point. You didn't care or after looking into her case you knew their was negligence in my opinion on Lawrence street center's part.

Looks just like the nursing home on the movie happy Gilmore! Tried 3 oxygen machine and non worked. Don’t let your loved ones stay here. As for the staff who knows we didn’t stay more than 30 minutes before deciding on another facility. Place smells and looks like death.

LSHCC is a decent place. My mother was there for 3 weeks for rehabilitation. They took care of her and her needs decently. The staff is very nice and do what they can. There is less staff on the weekends so have patience. My mother was not able to use the bathroom on her own and at times would have to wait a bit to be changed. The longest time waited was about 20 minutes and that was over a holiday weekend. Otherwise, the staff would come by and check on her regularly. The rehabilitation staff did great working with her. Just remembered to be patient but also an advocate for your love one.

My brother, who has Alzheimer’s dementia, has been in a secured memory care unit since May 2025. Before coming here, he was in three other nursing homes where we had very difficult experiences.

Since moving to Lawrence Street Healthcare Center, everything has changed for the better. The nurses and CNAs are incredibly patient, compassionate, and truly understand how to care for residents with dementia. They handle challenging behaviors with kindness and professionalism, which has helped my brother feel safe and more at ease.7

I’ve also been very impressed with the administrative staff—they are responsive and address any concerns quickly.

Seeing my brother more settled and comfortable gives me great peace of mind. I highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for quality memory care for their loved ones.
