Families describe Laurel Lodge as a warm, family-like community where staff—especially move-in coordinator Becky Bowman and past leadership Carly Applewhite and April Beavers-Grant—go out of their way to help with transitions and daily care. However, several reviewers report a rocky period tied to a recent ownership change, including communication breakdowns, staffing cuts, and one serious account of medication mismanagement and a missed ER notification. Newer reviews suggest care has improved again under changed leadership, though consistency over time is a concern some families flag.

Update.
DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONE HERE. The Executive Director has left and the Oaks obviously didn't care enough about residents there to try to keep her. She was GREAT! and had made changes. Everyone loved her. Staff, residents, and families. Now the care has declined again and the Oaks has even CUT THE HOURS of the staff. Often there is not enough staff on site to adequately help residents. We are paying A LOT for our loved ones to be at Laurel Lodge. But obviously The Oaks is only concerned with profits. I am VERY unhappy. I'm leaving the previous reviews so people can see the progression.
For anyone considering Laurel Lodge, please ignore any reviews written before March as the entire administrative staff has changed since then and the new administration does not exhibit the care that Carly Applewhite and April Beavers-Grant gave. Thankfully Kathy is still there. All of the families hope she never leaves. The new director, does not have the open door policy that Carly had and when you can get an appointment to talk with her, she makes promises that things will improve; however, she doesn't give the oversight needed to ensure that they indeed change.

Updated Review:
I am updating this review and changing three stars to five stars.
I'm very happy with the changes that have been made and remain cautiously optimistic.

Previous review:
I had written a very negative review of Laurel Lodge several weeks ago due to my loved one not receiving care in proportion to the almost monthly cost we are paying. There is now a new Executive Director, and I am definitely seeing positive changes in the facility. As per a previous reviewer's request, I want to give the new ED time and space to turn things around so I have deleted my previous one star review and replaced it with a three star rating. I will happily raise it to a five star rating if/when I've had more opportunity to see improvements in the facility. If you are considering Laurel Lodge for your loved one(s), I still stand by my rec to stop by the facility often, hang out in the parking lot, and talk with family members as they are visiting.

The staff has been so helpful and friendly every time we are there. Nana has only been there for 3 days but seems to be well taken care of and says the food is good. Thank you to Becky, Tiffany, Noel and Christina and everyone else for helping us navigate through this transition.

Update...So Nana has been there for a little over a month now the issues are coming to the surface. The communication is sub par on the administration level. I have called and emailed these two ladies yet no return call or email. I don't think her apartment nor the floors in the main areas have been cleaned since she's been there. We are paying dearly for this facility and this is unacceptable!

I will say the techs (Christina & Noel) have been great and super helpful and Sam is helpful and responds to emails and answer calls.

I contacted Laurel Lodge Assisted Living for information only, and Becky Bowman was incredibly helpful from the very start. She took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly and made sure I understood every option available for my family member.
What really stood out was Becky’s kindness and follow-up. Even though we ultimately didn’t need to place our loved one in the facility, she continued to check in and see how things were going. That level of genuine care and attention was truly appreciated.
Becky’s professionalism, compassion, and dedication made a stressful situation much easier to navigate. I would highly recommend reaching out to her if you are considering senior living options.

I met with Becky at Laurel Lodge and she was absolutely wonderful explaining details about this wonderful facility. It was a very friendly and warm environment, which is very important when looking for a place for my father in law.
