The lady at the front desk was as nice as you could want. I asked a few questions about the place as there is no big sign proclaiming what the building is. Also the entrance is really set back with no distinct signs proclaiming what it is When I inquired I was told she really didn't know, that it was just that way as long as she could remember. You walk into the sign in area and she tells you where the person you are there to see is!. The cafeteria is directly in front of you and it then branches off into 5 halls, which all have names above them. Unfortunately, it is very old so there are only double occupancy. This leaves the guys with not much room to put stuff or any privacy should they want it. But it is keep clean. I wish Kansas could get some new centers like they are in SC. They have a large rooms with windows to see the lovely grounds. My only advice if you get to the prison you have gone to far.... Backup the building is on your right!!!!

My dad moved into the Veterans home recently and has been well received by staff who are so compassionate and friendly to him as well as us! The food is top notch and the facility is well kept. We are so fortunate to have dad being cared for by the staff in a professional and caring environment.

My grandfather has been a resident at Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield, KS for almost 4 years. The care he has received from the staff has never failed. On the numerous scheduled and unexpected visits I have made he’s always clean, well fed, and very well attended. The staff greet me by name and always speak to my grandfather positively, encourage him to continue on, laugh and joke with him. I have not witnessed personnel issues such as negatively speaking of other employees, laziness, misuse of equipment, or unsafe practices. My family and I are very thankful for the care my grandfather has received at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield, Kansas.

12-12-18 Had an opportunity to visit the Winfiled Veterns Home. Staff was friendly and very caring towards the veterans. Faculty appeared to be clean and in order. Food debris was kept at a minimum in the common area. Bedrooms were clean and uncluttered. Hospice care was outstanding has well has the area housing the Alzheimer's units. Staff in this area deserve a pat on the back for going that extra mile with vets that at times can be a challenge. I myself will be requesting assistance in either hospice or Alzheimer's when I reach that point I need compassionate care.

My mother moved here & she loved it, being one of two WWII female veteran residents. The care she received was top notch. It always smelled clean. The staff was friendly. Both my mother & I were Registered Nurses, so we were fairly particular about her care.
