This used to be a decent hospital. Not sure what has happened other than Northwell taking over. The patient care is terrible. The communication is worse. If you care about a loved one admitted to Mather do not leave them alone for a second. We have dealt with prescribing medication that is contraindicated for patient and being ready to take them to surgery before even speaking to patient/myself or another family member to tell us what the result of the test was. This was not that emergent and the protocol is clearly non existent for patients with Alzheimer’s. They either restrain, (a NON combative patient) or drug them so they don’t have to be bothered with being human and redirecting, or doing their job. There were many other smaller issues as well as the charge nurse audibly sighing and rolling her eyes when I handed the phone to her to speak to a family member who is legal medical proxy. I honestly feel like I am in the twilight zone and sincerely hope when these medical professionals need medical care themselves one day, they receive it from people who are better than them.

I went to Mathers Hospital because I was experiencing severe stomach pain. After checking in, I was brought into a room to wait for the doctor. After waiting 30 minutes with no update, I rang the call bell. It took about 13 minutes for someone to respond. When they finally came in, I explained that I had already been waiting for the doctor for over 30 minutes and asked for an update. They told me they would check, but no one ever came back. About 15 minutes later, I rang the bell again asking for the doctor. A staff member came in looking very bothered that I had rung the bell again and told me they were busy and would get to me when they could. I continued waiting in pain for over an hour. I rang the bell once more, and another staff member came in. I explained again that I was in a lot of pain and had been waiting for a long time. She said she would check for me and later came back saying she had made them aware, but another 15 minutes passed and still no doctor came to see me. At that point, I decided to leave and go to a different hospital. The lack of communication, concern, and professionalism was extremely disappointing. What made it even more upsetting was seeing staff sitting outside talking and laughing while call bells were going off and patients were waiting for help. I understand hospitals can get busy, but patients who are in severe pain deserve updates, compassion, and proper attention.

I spent a week in Mather's Transitional Care Unit for physical therapy after knee replacement. The unit is top notch. The whole staff was completely dedicated to helping me recover. The Doctors, Nurses, Nurse Assistants, Physical Therapists, and the whole staff impressed me. Brought me through the program keeping me up on my progress while explaining every step. When I go for my next knee replacement I hope and pray I can go back and do it again. Thank you everyone.

On Thursday the 12 of March my wife talked me into going to Mather hospital emergency room because of severe stomach pain. By the time I arrived I was hurting and nauseous. As a 66 year old who has a long history of surgeries and health issues i hate emergency rooms. Not because of staff but I feel ridiculous going when others are much sicker. Mathers new ER is beautiful and clean. I was taken into a room within a half hour and the intake staff was amazing. The ER DR Christopher Driscoll and PA Igor Lizogubenko and nurses and staff treated me like I mattered and took my health as their first priority. Testing takes time and as patients we have to understand that. They explained every step and tests along the way. Within a hour I was pain free and comfortable. I am so very thankful for the care I received from everyone at Mather and I understand everyone is going to have different experiences depending on how sick they are. But I was treated very well and I thank Mather for their amazing care for my health.

Mather Hospital did such a great job on my outpatient Breast Surgery February 10, 2026. I was treated like a queen there , and every single person was friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in to the security guards to the end when I walked out. I especially have a shout out to Kaitlyn and Lauren. Once again, I have been to many hospitals, but Mather Hospital is the most outstanding. I am so grateful and thankful to everyone there. And I can’t think of anything they could’ve done to improve their service because it was better than perfect!!
