My dad just passed away at Jasmine Terrace two days ago. I have nothing but my deepest gratitude to all the staff at Jasmine Terrace for taking care of my dad for the past 2 years. They took better care of my dad than I could ever do. My dad passed away at 4:50 in the morning. By the time I walked in, a young nurse, I still don’t know her name, was crying and mourning by dad’s side. For a few moments I did not understand the tears in her eyes because there were no prior relations at all. My dad already had advanced dementia by the time he moved to Jasmine Terrace. I will never forget the moment I saw true compassion. It brought me such comfort knowing my dad had been in caring hands for that last two years of his life.

This review is mainly for Virginia. I actually did like the facility, but the staff seem to be a little incompetent. Dealing with Virgina (older Filipino lady) to do an intake is the biggest waste of time. She is so unprofessional and sloppy, it is very frustrating corresponding back and forth with her when she goes out of town so often for "family emergencies", and is the main point of contact for intake. My mother is an Air Force vet that has frontotemporal dementia. She is 63, which is a little early to be experiencing this. I went on a tour of this facility back in January, so this has been a very slow process. I told Virgina my mothers age the day of the tour where she wrote it down, as well as other details such as the current facility my mother is at. I was concerned when I would call back to check on the process that she would ask me the same questions over and over, as if Virgina is suffering from dementia herself. She has been making false promises since February when she verbally told me my mother was approved to move in the first week of march. The first week rolled around and I didn't hear anything from Virgina, so i called her direct cell where i have been getting sent to voicemail ever since because she apparently has been having back to back family emergencies or events where she goes out of town (lol). She will send you to voicemail, then ask to call back later through text. I guess this facility was rieed of my checking on the status of the placement because they finally determined today after months of deliberation that my mother is suddenly "too young". This was already after Virginia said she would be moving within a week. They knew my mother's age months ago, it seems as if they are just lazy and want to pick and choose who to care for. Glad they showed their true colors before I sent the person I love the most in the world here... if anyone can suggest facilities that are diverse and have caring staff (as my mother is black), I would be totally open to suggestions because I am starting from square one again.

This is for the Yucca Valley location: They are currently killing my Aunt. She has lost her ability to feed herself and they they just place food and drinks in front of her and wonder why she doesn't eat. Staff don't wear masks and many aren't vaccinated. Now she has Covid and they don't expect her to survive the weekend. So... will she die of Covid or starvation and dehydration? Bet they'll say it's just Covid.

The staff all know the names of the residents. The head nurse, Mary, as well as other supervising nurses, are wonderful. Of all the facilities I visited that were within my price range, only Jasmin had a large space in which my husband could walk around, including a large patio (others had only a single floor or section locked off for memory care, and felt confining). Jasmin is also the only place that had some kind of live music every evening from 6:00 to 7:00 pm – whether a singer with recorded background singing classic rock or other "oldies" or swing-era songs, or an Elvis impersonator, or a pianist playing show tunes.

We just left my Mom-In-law at Jasmin Terrace and are so confident she will be well-cared for. In many encounters with and observations of caretakers during the process, not once did we hear or see anything but positive, encouraging, yes-loving communication. Even the most challenging interactions were met with patience and ...love. Lots of moving parts there and it won't be perfect. But she is in a protective nurturing environment.
