My son was discharged from the hospital to home care. After waiting for the day to hear from them, I called before they closed and was told his Medicaid was denied. First, I don’t know why they wouldn’t call me so we could have cleared it up and get serviced going. Secondly, he has Blue Cross Blue Shield as his insurance, and because he is a severely impaired adult, he receives social security and Medicaid. I explained that Blue Cross Blue Shield was his primary and Medicaid was a secondary. She told me that her biller ran it through and Medicaid was primary. Again, I explained why would Medicaid be primary when there is a private insurance, and a great insurance at that as services are covered 100% by another agency that was billing Blue Cross (Hospital discharged him to Genesys Home Care and he was approved, but his primary doesn’t work with them). The person I spoke with said give me 24 hours to run it through again. You don’t have another 24 hours when you’re already home from the hospital for over 24 hours and you still don’t have services. I called the doctor to have it straightened out and they had the same outcome as me, so we are going to a different agency, who I’m sure would love to run our Blue Cross and have the business, including Nurse, Aid, PT, and OT. Their biller error has delayed help for my son and I would not recommend them. Lastly, what biller would ever think that Medicaid would pay before a private insurance... HUGE red flag.
