The best decision I made was to move into Ida Culver House Broadview! I was skeptical at first to leave my home in a quite neighborhood surrounded by trees to move to the “city” in an apartment-like setting, but the stairs and isolation were getting to be difficult.<br><br>After visiting several facilities, I’d chosen ICHB because of the great vibe, lovely apartments, beautiful gardens and fantastic food. Since day one of moving in I’ve been amazed at how wonderful and interesting life can be!<br><br>There are a wide variety of activities so there’s never a dull moment. There are many choices for great meals in the beautiful dining room with a view of the Olympics. And most importantly the top notch staff are efficient, friendly, caring and eager to serve. The residents are kind, interesting and fun too. This is a very happy place and it’s contagious!

My mother spent four wonderful years at Ida Culver House Broadview. The staff was always available and quick to take care of any need. The buildings and gardens are well maintained, and the terrace garden in particular is a lovely spot. My mom always raved about the food and the sweet staff that served in the dining room. We will miss this warm and loving community.

We moved friends from another state into Ida Culver House Broadview in November 2025, after taking years to thoroughly research many other options. This research gave us a good understanding of what to look for in a retirement facility. This is a complex analysis, and depends entirely on the individuals looking for a community. ICHB received our highest marks on paper. However, it was not until we stayed down the hall as we moved our friends into their sun-filled apartment (with a view of the Olympic range and the Puget Sound!) that we understood what an outstanding community this is. Here are a few of the many positive things we noticed: management is well-organized and welcoming; the (wonderful!) move-in coordinator makes the process understandable and doable; the front desk staff (the central nervous system) is attentive and knowledgeable; the library is beautiful and well-stocked; the housekeeping staff is terrific; the wellness nurses are understanding; the apartments are better than any we saw within the same price range (renting not buying); the food is outstanding -- the chef is dedicated to providing interesting meals with fresh fish almost every day; maintenance is very responsive, and the gardens are lovely. Perhaps most telling was the fact that all residents we met (residing there ourselves as we moved in) had good things to say about the community. From the Executive Director on down, everyone acknowledges the tremendous difficulty of the transition from one's prior life to a retirement community. Walking through the hallways, the residents are greeted by staff (by name), and there is a sense of contentment, of community, of tranquillity, and humor. We met many residents, and all of them had positive things to say. That is the best affirmation of a great place to live. Many thanks to the Broadview team for making this transition work for our friends. It renewed our belief that there is kindness, caring, generosity and humor even during difficult times.

My parents moved there over 5 years ago shortly before the COVID pandemic changed everything. My mother-in-law had moved in a month or two before that. We felt that the staff did a great job of adapting to difficult circumstances and continued to adapt as the pandemic guidance evolved. As my mother's dementia grew worse my parents moved together into the Terrace, the memory care unit. The care there was good. Eventually Mom died due to the dementia and Dad moved back into a regular apartment until eventually he too started struggling with dementia and we moved him back into the Terrace. He died at 100 years old in October. While they lived there I visited often and observed the staff at work. The care was excellent and when there were any rare issues with any individual staff they were dealt with very quickly. The programs and events that we got to experience were amazing. We enjoyed the meals we shared with them in the main dining room. We are very grateful that our parents chose Ida Culver House Broadview and were able to enjoy their final years there.

My folks have been in memory care @ the Terrace for over 4 years and have received excellent care at Ida Culver Broadway House. The staff is loving and caring, the food is very good and varied, and they offer a variety of activities such as music, concerts, sing alongs, and chair exercises.
