As a patient advocate, I recently helped a client transition to Hummingbird Retreat Living after a hospital stay. One of the things that stood out most was their awake overnight staff, which gives real peace of mind for residents with fall risk. The team has been attentive and easy to work with throughout, and it genuinely feels like family there. I'd recommend Hummingbird to families looking for a smaller, more personal group home setting with real attentiveness to safety and care.

I can’t say enough good things about the Hummingbird Assisted Living home that my wife is residing in. Meagan Paige is as caring and compassionate as a close family member would be, and her entire team is as committed as she is to providing a level of care that has far exceeded my expectations.<br><br>My 69 year old wife lost her memory suddenly and completely on Valentine’s Day 2026. Following multiple hospitalizations and a diagnosis of autoimmune encephalitis, I cared for her at home for as long as I could but it was not sustainable. Initially, I placed her in the memory care unit of a large assisted living community. They were unable to provide the level of care and supervision that my wife required. Hummingbird has been a total opposite experience.<br><br>The caregivers are like family to my wife and to me. Their can-do attitude, unlimited patience, and total compassion enabled them to earn my total trust while allowing me to focus on being a husband instead of a caregiver.<br><br>Meagan and Cory have set a standard of care and excellence that few facilities will ever be able to equal. It is my sincere pleasure to recommend the Hummingbird homes.

There are not enough words to express how grateful our family is for Meagan and everyone at Hummingbird Retreat. If I could give more than five stars, I would.<br><br>From the very beginning, it was clear that Meagan truly cared about my mom. She treated her with kindness, dignity, and genuine compassion. She went above and beyond in every way, helping arrange safe transportation, coordinating doctors to come to the home when needed, attending some of my mom's medical appointments, and always making sure my mom was safe, comfortable, and cared for at Hummingbird.<br><br>One moment that meant so much to our family was when the nurses at Mayo Clinic commented that they could tell my mom was very well cared for. That spoke volumes about the quality of care she received every day.<br><br>After my mom passed away, Meagan's kindness continued. She helped me pack up my mom's room because I simply couldn't bear to do it myself. I will never forget that act of compassion.<br><br>During one of the hardest times in my life, Meagan cared for my mom like she was family, and she cared for me too. I will always be grateful for everything she did. Without hesitation, Hummingbird Retreat is the only assisted living home I would recommend to someone I love.

Like so many families, I worried that no place could ever feel like home for someone living with dementia. I could not have been more wrong.<br><br>Hummingbird Retreat has been nothing short of a miracle for our family.<br><br>The adjustment wasn’t easy at first. My mom was frightened, confused, and wanted nothing to do with leaving her home. But with incredible patience, kindness, and consistency, the staff slowly earned her trust. Today, she smiles, knows the caregivers by name, and truly feels like she’s at home. Watching that transformation has been one of the greatest gifts our family has received.<br><br>Meagan, the owner, is a nurse, and that makes all the difference. She understands not only the clinical side of caring for older adults but also the emotional side for both residents and their families. She knows what it takes to do this important work, and it shows in every aspect of the home she has created.<br><br>The staff is simply extraordinary. They are compassionate, attentive, and genuinely love the people they care for. They treat every resident with dignity and respect, and they make families feel like true partners in care. Communication is excellent, and they work collaboratively with physicians, hospice, caregivers, and the entire healthcare team to make sure everyone is on the same page.<br><br>One thing that has especially impressed me is how much they care about the little things that make a big difference—like what residents enjoy eating. They take the time to learn personal preferences and do everything they can to make meals enjoyable instead of just serving food.<br><br>As someone who has spent my career leading healthcare organizations, I have high expectations. Hummingbird Retreat has exceeded every one of them.<br><br>If you’re struggling with the heartbreaking decision of moving a loved one into assisted living, I hope this gives you some comfort. There is life after the move. There can be laughter again. There can be peace. I was skeptical of putting my loved one in a care home until I toured the Hummingbird Retreat in Scottsdale, AZ. At that moment, I knew this was the place for our loved one.<br>Hummingbird Retreat is like the home that is caring, kind, considerate and always there to help in everyway.<br>The staff is very kind, caring, considerate and they care about the safety of our loved one.<br>They make us feel right at home.<br>They gave our loved one a birthday party that was so very special.<br>I feel Hummingbird Retreat gives our loved ones the care, kindness, and diginity they deserve as well as a safe environment. We are quite please with the care and safety of our loved one at Hummingbird Retreat.
