For the most part, Highland Care Center is great. My mom has been here for the last couple of months to regain some of her mobility, and she is making progress. Most of the staff is friendly, and more importantly, caring. There are a few nurses that are AMAZING, and then again a few who aren't, but overall, a nice facility. One nurse, Veronica G., consistently helps my mom and it is apparent that she does her job because she cares, not just for the paycheck. Veronica, and the other wonderful nurses like her that work here, make this place feel like a home away from home for my mom, and for that I will be forever greatful.

It was a pleasure working with HCCR on the construction of their storage building. The team was organized, communicative, and easy to coordinate with throughout the entire process. Clear direction and timely decisions helped keep the project running smoothly. We appreciate the opportunity and look forward to working together again in the future.

Lost my mother's property and repeatedly claims it is in social worker office or storage. Yet can never locate it. Mom is on hospice in a different facility and would love to read her Bible and see. They claim they will call right back but still waiting three weeks later and no calls unless I call them. They always have an excuse even after speaking with the administrator!

My grandmother had a wonderful stay at this facility. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and patient, and the environment felt safe and welcoming from day one. She received excellent care and always felt respected and comfortable. We’re truly grateful for the compassion shown—highly recommend!

My 63 yr old husband was in this facility for 4 months & because I drove over there practically every single night, I became very familiar with it. The care he got was not “up to par”—what you would expect. Remember, this is a nurses training facility & the staff rotates in & out and depending who is on what shift, determines what kind of care your loved one will receive. For a lot of them, this was their 1st nursing job. Therefore, the care he got was “all over the map” & was never consistent. On the “upside,” the staff, overall, was warm and friendly and the facility was kept clean, but that does not mean they were “competent” nor this facility was “equipped” when it came to meeting his medical needs. Things that you would “expect,” like ice water sitting on his tray at all times or blankets & socks covering his feet were a “hit & miss” & that is “why” for 4 months, I drove 40 minutes one way just to check on him every night to make sure that he had enough fluids, blankets & painkillers to get him through the night. Sometimes the food that was pureed & looked more like mush than soft food that was bite-sized— so, he refused to eat it causing him to lose weight. If you think that only showing up once a week to visit your loved one & they are getting the finest care in-between, you are so very “wrong.” For months & months we were waiting for the liver specialist to give the orthopedic surgeon the “clearance” to go ahead to perform his hip replacement surgery. Meanwhile, whatever meds were given to him could not control the pain when it came to his broken hip, like when he was in a hospital. We were waiting on his liver to recover “enough” for him to be able “to survive” the hip replacement surgery. This never “happened” because the last night he was there, I arrived to find him in duress saying, “Help Me!” He had fallen out of bed twice in one week but was not hurt because the bed was lowered close to the ground. This facility refused to put up a railing on the sides of the bed to keep him from falling out, even though they knew he was a “fall risk” for months. Having the bed so very low to the ground also made it impossible for him to reach the water on his tray, keeping him hydrated. The last night I arrived there, I saw that they finally had put up a railing on the sides of the bed. I sent a video of him to my son-in-law who is a doctor & he agreed that he needed to go to a hospital asap. So, a transport vehicle arrived & he was taken to Loma Linda Hospital. His ammonia levels were so high that he didn’t even know his own name. Once those ammonia levels were lowered, he was given a hip replacement surgery at the Loma Linda Hospital. If I had “showed up” at this facility only once a week, like a lot of people do, he would have died in that facility because it was unable to “keep up” when it came to controlling his ammonia levels. Why he was completely “out of his mind” the last night he was there. & what was so frightening is to realize now that he would NEVER have survived if he had gotten an hip replacement surgery when he was there because they were not equipped to deal with all of the medical complications that followed afterwards due to his liver being so compromised. So many people only stop by once a week, thinking their loved one is being given the upmost care. If you think 20 minutes of rehab 3x’s a week is going to get your loved one up & walking again, think again! It’s not going “to happen.” If your loved one’s health is so compromised that they cannot pick up a cup of water & think they are going to get enough fluids in-between meals, think again! If they cannot voice their concerns that they need more blankets & socks to keep them warm, it isn’t going “to happen.” Why I made it a point to drive over there every single night. Unfortunately, this is one of the “better” facilities that is offered to patients & their families which is so “below par” when you compare it to a real hospital, like Loma Linda which is on top of “their game.”
