I can't speak for others, but I had a very good experience here while Heritage was caring for my father. Staff were very kind, friendly and accommodating and I think it was a very comfortable place for him to live. I enjoyed the time I spent with him there, and the residents there were also very kind. I felt like efforts were made to involve my Dad in communal activities. The nurses checked in on him regularly in the later periods of his time there, and made sure he was comfortable. The views and food here were very nice, and it was a comfortable place to be near the bay. There are a variety of spaces within the Heritage, a nice dining room, courtyards, gardens, and library spaces. Some rooms face towards the street and some towards the bay. My only comments are as this is a historic building, it is a bit dated in some areas, and not the most friendly for those who are mobility challenged. For example the main doors have a bunch of stairs which my Dad had difficulty with. There is an ADA back door, however. The mail is also tucked away down a dark hall in the basement, quite far from the residents' rooms, something that would've been difficult for my Dad to get. They do offer that the mail gets delivered to the front desk, however. The main reason for the -1 star is that when we signed him into the community it was not explained that there would be major construction planned. For a period they suggested bussing the residents out of their rooms to another location while work took place. Overall we felt management could've been more transparent about this from the beginning. But I don't want to end on a sour note. We appreciate all the help and care the nurses and team gave to our father over the years and we are forever grateful.

I visited my Grandfather here while he was doing rehab so this review is only for the rehab portion of the facility. I only visited him twice for 2 hours each, but so far my impressions are very positive. Although pricey, you get what you pay for, and the physical facility certainly reflect the price tag. The property is located in the beautiful Marina District in San Francisco. Once you check-in at the kiosk in the lobby, the property is laid out like an elegant hotel. A huge restaurant style dining room is available for meals, and while we didn’t eat there, service looked to be first class. There were many sitting areas with books and puzzles and coffee/tea/water available in the lobby. Grandfather’s care team was very compassionate - you could tell they truly cared about the residents. His room looked like a more comfortable hospital room, but is was only his rehab room until he was well enough to move to his resident room. He commented that the food they served him was delicious. So far so good with facility and hopefully as he continues to get better, his stay there will remain the highest quality.

The Heritage on the Marina, is a most welcoming place that provides a level of care you can only wish for, for any loved one. We moved my grand-father into an independent apartment almost five years ago now, with a most recent move into the next level of care, where he now gets the assistance he requires at the young age of 98. We contribute his happiness and health to the care of not only the professionals that work with pride at the facility, but the other community members that live there. The food, activities and resources onsite are beyond great, and the location and facility just gorgeous. I hope my husband and I will have the opportunity to thrive at a senior care facility just like this one, one day!
