Heineberg Community Senior Center

Heineberg Community Senior Center is an independent, community-based non-profit located in Burlington, Vermont, established in 1971. It serves more than 600 older Vermonters each year and welcomes community members ages 50 and older.

The Center offers free, donation-based programs, meals, and activities designed to reduce isolation, develop friendships, strengthen bones, maintain balance and flexibility, and improve social connections. Programming includes Bone Builders classes, Tai Chi, Yoga, and Flow Singing gatherings. The facility features a wood-floor space built in 1941 by NNE volunteers with donated materials, originally designed to support community connection and activity.

Nutritious food access is a core component of the Center's mission. Free meals are provided, and the community partners with Hannaford to distribute fresh produce, deli items, packaged sandwiches and salads, dairy products, and baked goods to supplement food budgets for older adults in the area. Fresh vegetables are also sourced from the Intervale.

The Center organizes social outings and events throughout the year, including trips to local baseball games and special programming focused on wellness and personal growth, such as workshops on de-cluttering and mindfulness. Activities emphasize creating an inclusive environment where participants of diverse ages can connect and share life experiences.
