I was in the TCU section of their facility for three weeks. I was very nervous going as I have seen some nursing homes (not this one) that were horrible. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and big the facility was. I chose this primarily for two reasons, it was close to my home allowing my husband to easily visit through public transport and it was a newer built facility. The rooms in TCU were large and well equipped with a recliner, adjustable bed, wardrobe, mini fridge and freezer and roll-in bathroom. They were clean and well maintained daily. The staff were amazing. From Pam, my nurse on my first day who helped get me out of my funk of having to even be in such a place and Maddie, Taylor and all the other nursing staff. You all made the daily vitals check fun and I enjoyed our conversations! Sebastian who took care of my breakfast and lunch every day and was so kind and caring; to Nick, Marie, Ashley and so many others who helped me through my daily tasks. Thanks for the laughs and fun conversations! The therapy team, Debra, Anna, Jamie, Sarah and Emily who challenged me daily and I always wanted to do my best. To the administrative staff from front desk to Kim and Jen who handled all my questions and concerns especially about working to get me released! Thank you all again so much for everything. While I'm so happy to be back home again continuing my recovery, I can't thank you all enough! I know that you all truly care about your job and the people that you interact with daily!

My father in law was not in there care for more than a few hours before we realized the medical care provider was not trained, competent or knowledgeable of the needs of my father in law. My father in law called us in pain and scared. We immediately went back after only 1 hours of leaving him to get him the care he needed. We went straight to the emergency room. When we arrived at Heritage Manor- Hawkeye Care Center, It was a ghost town and when attempted to enter the locked facility we were finally buzzed in to enter a barren place. The worst part was the LPN that was suppose to care for him did not know the simplest procedure. He was so nervous and kept saying he never irrigated a catheter.one of the main reasons my father in law needed care was to remove the blood clots that would clog the catheter. He also did not know how to open the door for us to exit after hours, talk about a fire hazard. Horrible Place! If it matters this is the first time I ever took the time to write a review, that is how important this review is, as I want to protect others.

This is the most unfriendly place in the industry! Very lazy staff that sit on “Facebook” often behind the nurses stations with no accountability at all it’s a free for all type environment.
