We were informed that my mother in law's current facility was closing and we had less than a month to find her a new place. We were referred to Harborview and I am so thankful we were. From the beginning everyone has been welcoming and very good with communication. She has received great care and all of the staff have been so helpful. The facility has been clean every time we have visited. It is an older facility but I would rather my mother in law have good care in a safe environment than be neglected in an overpriced facility. I would 100% recommend Harborview Thomaston to anyone looking for a place for their loved ones to be cared for.

I This nursing home is a 0!!! My husband came home after a brief stay, dry mouth, leather tongue, deranged No!! way the way he arrived there. I believe no meds was given because all is vidal were high. I called the director to give me some information on what have happened and he was so rude to me. Over talking me ,one step from curse me out. Very rude. My husband lived 3 weeks after leaving that nursing home cause he never recovered. Family members beware. Read the reviews!!!!

I would absolutely give this place ZERO stars if I could. The only redeeming quality is the physical therapy department. The physical therapists were wonderful. The "nurses" don't care, the facility will try to keep you as many days as your insurance approved you to stay, and the food is something I wouldn't feed my dog. Thank God my family member was only here for rehab...if you value your life or that of your family, think twice before coming here. My family member was medically mismanaged and less than a month after discharge was admitted to Intermediate Care (just below ICU) and is going on 2 weeks in the hospital. They gave his insulin hours before meals or not at all so his diabetes, which was well controlled prior to admission, is no longer controlled. He had a catheter at the beginning of his stay and the so called nurses ignored him when complained of pain...for the entire time it was in. He wasn't bathed for almost a month and no peri care was provided for 4 days so the catheter was crusted to him...there is NO excuse for that! There is no communication between the staff and the family and should you question the answers you get, they lie to your face. And even worse, they retaliate by neglecting or doing subtle things to hurt your family. The worst mistake of my life was sending my loved one here.

I will say with confidence that the nurses really try to take care of my dad. I read about the cleanliness and it is not perfect. I would rather have a knowledgeable nurse than the smartest custodian. It is hard to find a good worker anywhere these days. Every day I enter the building I look for how the workers treat people. I think that harbor view has a good all around staff.

I would strongly advise anyone considering this nursing home for their loved ones to look elsewhere. From what I’ve seen and heard, this place is extremely poorly run. The building itself is rundown, the rooms smell musty and unclean, and it’s obvious that the facility hasn’t been properly maintained in a long time. The staff environment is concerning — most of the employees are either related or in relationships with each other, creating a toxic and unprofessional atmosphere. There’s clear favoritism, which seems to affect how things get handled (or ignored). CNAs often leave residents waiting with their call lights on for an alarming amount of time, and basic care is frequently neglected. It’s also clear that the staff is overworked and severely underpaid. Management continues to pile more responsibilities on them without fair compensation or support. I’ve heard multiple accounts of employees being harassed or expected to work while sick or injured — risking their own health and that of the vulnerable residents. There’s a lot that gets swept under the rug at this facility. They’re more interested in protecting their reputation than actually fixing the very real problems affecting both staff and residents. It's heartbreaking and infuriating. Do not be fooled by appearances or nice words during a tour. This is not a safe, respectful, or compassionate environment for the elderly. Please think twice before trusting this place with someone you love.
