VERY MISLEADING.
Both me and my young daughter are going through extensive therapy over how this place cared for my mother.
On the phone they were very informative. Made this place sound like a miracle for the situation I was in with my mother (she had recently gotten a diagnoses of an inoperable mass and needed more care than her current housing could provide. She was not dying or extremely sick at the time of admission). When we got there, they greeted us very nicely and had two very caring nursing staff members get my mom situated in her room and gave me information. After that time, those two smiling, positive, caring nurses were never back. I was there every second of every day from admission to when she passed. The nurses who did show up over the course of the 3 days she was there, only cared about shoving morphine and Ativan down my mothers throat. Every 1 to 2 hours they were feeding it to her, even while she was asleep (when she was asleep they asked for my help to hold her mouth shut so the medicine would dissolve in her cheek. this alone absolutely traumatized me and was very unprofessional to ask of me) when I asked them to lower the dose so she could be awake to be able to talk with me and her family they argued with me saying it was more important for her to be asleep and comfortable than awake and anxious. They kept her asleep the entire last 3 days of her life with no time to be awake or aware. I felt like her last days were stolen from her, myself and her loved ones who came to say goodbye. A few hours before my mother went to this place, she was awake and aware and was able to talk and even joke around. Ever since the day she got there she was in a medicated coma until she passed. She didn’t get the chance to say goodbye to anyone. No one got the chance to say goodbye to her. She went from herself, to a shell of who she was, to dead, in 3 days at this place. I guess that’s what happens when you’re fed morphine and Ativan every hour around the clock. I live every day with the immense guilt of having to make the decision to send my mother here. I am traumatized beyond help. This place is a gorgeous establishment with some very kind souls working there. But I wouldn’t wish what happened to my mom while she was there on anyone.
