You're not getting thousands of dollars worth a month. I've been there many times now. There are no activities, no books to read. I was there Sunday, April 26,the wind was blowing hard enough that sand got in my eyes.. yet an elderly lady left the bldg in her wheel chair, stopping several times to fight the wind, no answer when I called to let them know she was out there. I was sick so I didn't get out.. Another man was in a motorized wheelchair chair. He could barely work it... I don't know why. There were 2 ladies that fell out of bed.. one they didn't know how long she had been laying there was rushed to the hospital. The other one was rushed to the hospital too her potassium was so high they had to dialysis.. she was near death. They are not trying to better the situation either. I'm going to try to get a social service worker over there to help.

My father-in-law was put Betty Dare for therapy after great treatment at Christus. He lasted a little over a day and we got a call that he had fallen. He broke his hip and passed away shortly afterwards. It just appeared he was placed in a room with someone else and forgotten about. After talking to his roommate, I feel they could have done much better and failed to take proper safety measures.

This is the worst facility I have ever seen, and I’ve seen more than my share. First of all, trying to get in touch with someone to give you answers is worst to none. They keep passing the ball from nursing staff to rehab personal to social workers. Understandably they are understaffed and overworked but being mean and negligent to patients at their worst time shouldn’t be the norm. They have patients sit in their chairs for over 4 hours. My sister would ask for a drink and was told she couldn’t have juice because she spilled it. She would have to wait hours before they got back to her. My sister was sent to Betty Dare for rehab and was there for three weeks after being in the hospital for diabetic problems. If she had not been taken out of there she might not be here now. She left in much worse condition than when she got there. She didn’t need oxygen before and now she needs it. They would not give her some to take home because she left as non-compliant. The night before she left her cell phone went missing, I am suspecting it disappeared because they thought she was filming what was going on and they caught her. Her keepsake blanket with her great grand children’s pics on it, missing, half of her clothes she brought were taken to the laundry and never returned as well. Although there were some endearing aides, it is clear their hands are tied on many of the standards and procedures.

After receiving outstanding care at Christus Southern New Mexico Hospital, My mom was admitted to Betty Dare for rehab after a fall that required surgery to be repaired. We could not get her transferred out of there fast enough. I understand these types of facilities are understaffed and the staff are overworked and underpaid, but the minimum daily care needs were not met for my mom. Not only was rehab not a priority, meals were horrible, transportation to a follow up with her doctor was not available and had to be rescheduled, lab tests requested were not sent out, medications were not administered on time, and the facility is run down and dirty. Please think twice and do your research before sending your loved one to Betty Dare for care. We have her at a facility in Las Cruces where she is receiving outstanding care and actual rehab. She is already better after a couple of days there!

I visited my brother there and the meal system is anything but organized, they bring one tray at a time and he sat at the table half an hour before they brought his tray. Wasn’t much food and lots of sandwiches. The food was good he said. No one (workers) was paying attention to notice if a patient ate or not. You could starve yourself to death and they wouldn’t notice. Two weeks he seen a doctor twice. No real plan for rehab. Staff was friendly but I would not recommend.
