This is a family-owned business. I had been dealing with the owner's daughter. I called the daughter on a Thursday afternoon around 3PM. As usual, she did not answer so I left a message requesting a call back. As power of attorney for the would-be resident, in my message I stated that I was ready to sign some pre-admission paperwork. The next Monday came and it was 9:30AM and the daughter still did not return my call. So I called her and this time she answered. The first thing she said was "Sorry I didn't call you Friday because we had a family picnic." That floored me! So it must have been an 8 or 9 hour picnic. But she couldn't break away from the "picnic" for a minute to return my call? So I told her I was ready to come over to sign that previously discussed paperwork. She stated she will let her director of the facility call me to set up an appointment. Ten minutes later, the daughter called me and said there were no openings in Mt. Pleasant due to an existing resident moving from assisted living to one in the memory care buildings next door. She then had the audacity to tell me there may be an opening in their Sheyboygan facility. So I would have to drive almost 2 hours one way to visit the resident that I represented. I passed on that.
