This review is to express our admiration and gratitude to the staff at the Exeter Center. On 11-1-26 my 93 year-old mother's life changed forever due to a fall leading to a broken arm. As a result of that fall, she quickly became deconditioned and was never able to return to her apartment and her cat again. She moved from the ED to an Acute Rehab, then to a SNF all within that first month. While at the first SNF, she was extremely fearful of falling, so progress was slow and their belief was that she had made all the progress she could and was scheduled to be discharged within a very short time. She was clearly unable to care for herself and had no safe alternative. The process of calling every SNF/LTC in NH to inquire if any accepted "Medicaid-pending" admissions was very overwhelming and discouraging. Many didn't answer or return messages. Those that did respond had no beds or were unwilling to take a chance. We were losing hope until Alexia, the Director of admissions brightly answered her phone. Alexia listened and gave hope to our situation. She was willing to look at my mother's records and with her team, assess if they could provide continued SNF care, with the understanding that she might require LTC after that. My mother was quickly transferred to Exeter Center and continued her SNF care there. My mother completed her SNF care. She did progress but needed to remain there for LTC. The facility is small and the staff and other residents are becoming like family. Brett and his Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy Team are amazing. Minna and Suzanne in Recreational Activities keep the residents engaged and out of their rooms. Vicki, the Receptionist greets everyone with a bright smile and is always willing to lend a hand to the residents, families and staff. She is an amazing team player! There are many staff that deserve a shout out, but a few stand out at this time as always being strong advocates for their residents. RNs Jennifer and my mother's "favorite" Dan. LNAs Owen, Laura and Janet have consistently presented as upbeat, enthusiastic and eager to be helpful. This facility may not be the most modern one out there, but the residents are happy and well cared for.
