Raya's Paradise

Raya's Paradise at 341 North La Jolla Ave is a small residential care home tucked into a quiet residential neighborhood near the Beverly Center in Los Angeles. With a licensed capacity of just six residents and all-private rooms, the community offers a more intimate, personal scale of senior living than larger facilities, surrounded by single-family homes while still remaining close to central Los Angeles.

Each bedroom is private and includes its own private bathroom with shower, a call button, and a full-size closet. The interior is shaped by skylights that bring natural light throughout the home, giving it an open, bright, and welcoming feel that adds to its residential, comfortable atmosphere.

Care and support available include medication supervision, laundry, and assistance for residents with incontinence, diabetes, hypertension, and special dietary needs. Dementia and hospice waivers are in place, allowing the team to support residents as their care needs change over time. A WanderGuard system is available for residents with wandering issues related to dementia, and a disabled van with a private caregiver provides transportation to doctor's appointments and other requested destinations.

Dining is treated as both a social and nutritional experience, with family-style meals, fresh seasonal choices, and restaurant-style service offering two entrée selections at every meal, largely prepared from scratch. An always-available seasonal menu and modified options for special dietary needs and restrictions are also offered, and a therapy kitchen supports cooking and baking activities that use smell and taste to help activate memories.

Daily life includes a Life Enrichment Program designed around each resident's interests, abilities, past history, and routine, with activities that promote cognitive, sensory, creative, and physical skills, including art programs and music and memory activities. The program also supports life skills and each resident's ability for self-care, with an overall focus on social, cognitive, spiritual, and physical well-being.
