For the very short time my stepdad has been under Enhabit, I’m honestly starting to regret letting the hospital sign us up with this company. The first nurse who came out was an hour and a half late, seemed very disorganized, and — not to be harsh — came across as a bit ditsy. The second visit, I wasn’t present, but when I went to his house later that night, I noticed new spots on his head and grew concerned. I called today to check on his bloodwork and ask a few questions, and the nurse on the phone — the same one who had visited him the second time — was unnecessarily rude with me, saying, “Well, your sister says he’s doing better” I calmly explained my sister’s mental limitations and why I was asking, only to get a smart remark that maybe I should be the one there. While I feel my sister and her boyfriend are capable of helping care for him, she can be naïve and doesn’t always fully understand medical conditions or the information given to her. I live an hour away with two kids in school and a family of my own, but I’ve been doing everything I can — along with others (not just them) — to help care for my stepdad. We are very limited on help at times. Instead of understanding, I was met with attitude, zero empathy, and judgmental comments — jumping to accusations and assuming no one else has been there to help him, simply because my sister happened to be there at the time of the nurse’s visit. To add to that, the night before the appointment, the same nurse called my phone to schedule his visit but didn’t say a word when I answered. Sat there silently. I could hesr background noise. I hung up, called back, and got no answer. I even texted, and only then was told she was able to reach someone to set up the appointment. The lack of sincerity, respect, and professionalism I experienced today was extremely upsetting. I truly hope this company takes feedback like this seriously, because families like mine depend on home health services to treat our loved ones — and their families — with compassion, understanding, and professionalism. Your supposed to be here to help. Her name was Karen, by the way — how fitting.
