Good food, clean dining room. Serving on the other hand...If you are unfortunate enough to get Tayeesha, be sure to order everything while she's at your table, because she's not coming back. Can't remember the simplest items, even when you just ask for TWO items.

Zero stars!!! My grandmother currently lives here and, other than the dining experience, she hates it. She's had a thermostat replaced (the old one worked just fine; this was not a replacement she requested) and it does not work. It's set at 72° and it is currently 81° inside her condo. It's only March! She's afraid to call maintenance because they've warned her that, if she calls again about the thermostat, they will BAN HER FROM THE DINING ROOM FOR 30 DAYS!!!! How is this legal??? She knows of other residents that this has happened to. Outside contractors and service companies refuse to do work at the El Dorado. Her monthly dues are outrageous at $1995/ month. That is more than she makes on social security each month! She owns the condo, but she's dipping into her savings each month, just to survive here. And security??? HA! We've gotten her a nanny cam, because she is certain that someone is entering her place while she's out. There's things that have gone missing from her home. Yes, they (management) all have keys to each and every residence. And you're not allowed to change your locks. Why not move to a keyless entry, like hotels, where you could track who enters? Oh right... that cost would be passed down to the residents. And yes, they have transportation offered, which you pay for if it's not a place on their "list". And there's shopping trips you can sign up for, as long as you can walk quickly. They'll go to Walmart, for example, but there's a time limit. My grandmother walks with a walker and moves very slow (common for a lot of elderly in their 80's and more); she doesn't have the time needed to complete her shopping in one trip. It's unacceptable. I live out of state, and cannot get down here more than a few times a year, so she's stuck with these living conditions. There's no family nearby to help her. Nothing is selling here. And while it's listed for sale, it's true that you are still required to pay all monthly dues, even though you aren't residing here. And living in Sun City is absolute insanity, with the annual dues (up to $685 for this year) that are required, whether you utilize the city amenities or not. Do NOT move here! Do NOT come to the El Dorado. You will regret that decision immediately. I'm looking into to contacting the local news regarding all of this crap. You have been forewarned. I wish my grandmother never sold her home and moved here. Hiring a cleaning service and having meals delivered would likely have been cheaper than this B.S. It certainly would have been more humane.

Update: Sept. 2025<br>Just had to add some pictures of their latest art show with everything from diamond dots to wood carvings and intriguing paintings and silver work jewelry. Call to check hours since I went during the ones listed and no one was there to provide information about a piece I wanted to buy or open the case for me to see it, so that was disappointing.<br>***********<br>My friend just downsized and moved here to these independent living condos, inviting me to a delicious meal. I liked the way they displayed the entrees before we entered the dining room as they all looked so appetizing. I had the catfish and fresh, not overcooked string beans as well as the freshest tasting cream of mushroom soup I have had in a long time; however, the roll was lacking in quality and freshness, and the butter in the foil pack was too cold and hard to spread. My friend's sandwich was accompanied with what looked to be freshly made chips. It was so pleasant to have cloth tablecloths and everything served in an eye pleasing manner with friendly service.<br>The view from her condo is so lovely as it overlooks the courtyard. On another occasion I had toured a unit which overlooked the lake, which was also very pleasing to view, so I'd look for one or the other if I were considering to move there.<br>The location is convenient with the Valley Metro Rte. 138 and 106 nearby, 3 local restaurants that you could walk to, Sun City's Lakeview Rec Center and Viewpoint Lake Park just down the street, Banner Boswell Hospital across the street, and Lakeview Methodist Church across the other street.<br>They hold regular art shows in their hallway gallery and I have enjoyed attending them since non-residents are invited. I only wish they would allow non-residents to buy a meal there just as Royal Oaks does in their main building since I think it's good for residents as well as non-residents to meet some new people and chat a bit.<br>I think they should allow residents to have a pet if they want since pets are important for those living alone in their latter years and are great spirit lifters. This is a spacious facility and a designated area would be a great addition. In lieu of that, a nice aquarium in the lobby would be an appreciated touch.<br>It is a true condo complex and those choosing to live here would do well to take an active role in governing it as part of the community and not just leave it to others and complain.

My father lived in this community at the end of his life. He was not an easy resident, and caused problems, but he paid his bills. He ended up passing away while living at El Dorado and the way my family was treated after he passed was some of the most callous and cruel behavior I’ve ever witnessed. We found out after he passed that the HOA at El Dorado had a law suit filed against my father and his estate. Once we discovered this we offered to settle for the exact amount they were asking for. Instead of accepting the offer, they continued to drag out the lawsuit, forced my family to retain counsel, incur legal fees and work through the administrative workload of an estate lawsuit. There was absolutely no reason to do it, other than punishing the family of a person they didn’t like. Abhorrent behavior by the director and leaders of the medical staff who should absolutely not be involved in the care or housing of elderly people. The best thing that could happen to this place is it gets acquired by some PE firm and stripped for parts, sold for real estate profits.
