My husband was admitted for a 2 month rehab stay. He was severely neglected, I found him on the floor several times when I came to visit. His pendant was lost and never replaced therefore he could not call for help. I had to leave town for 4 days and when I returned he was in the same clothes, never cleaned up, no teeth brushed and all of his towels were missing from the bathroom. I could go on and on regarding the incidents of neglect. I reported this facility to the State Ombudsman who investigated and found discrepancies. My husband was there less than 20 days. I had to pull him out when I noticed he had an infection from shoulder surgery which started to fester. They charged me $12,000 for 2 full months, just took the money out of my checking account. The State Ombudsman at least required them to refund me $2,000 which by law they had to because he was a resident less than 1 month. The level of neglect was astounding, and yes I did complain to staff and the director, who suddenly was no longer employed there after this incident.
