After the passing of my dad, my mom remained fiercely independent, including being very active in Korean society. She would take public transportation all over Sacramento and was very engaged in her community. However, as she started to get weaker and began to lose her independence and her connections to people, we knew she needed a change.<br><br>As a physician myself, I have helped so many patients and other people‘s family members get through the challenging physical transitions of aging and injury. This was my mom though and she was afraid of change. After and injury took her to a skilled nursing facility, she knew something had to change…and we found Eben Silver Town — an amazingly nurturing community with Korean sensibilities, Korean food and Korean friends. She came “back to life” and it was a new lease on our family.<br><br>And although with time she became physically weaker she remained intimately connected to her new friends and caregivers. She was home. Any issue: the staff communicated with me and my wife and we solved problems together. Hair care, nail care, doctors visits, PT, all in the comforts of the facility when needed. At the end, I could not have imagined a better place for her to say good bye. And Eben Silver Town is where you want your loved ones to have the assisted life they deserve.
