I couldn't have chosen a better place to put my mother! I highly recommend this rehabilitation center. All staff i was very kind and helpful. When I pushed the nurse button and need help with my mother. They were there within five minutes.Would change her or tend to any other need that she needed immediately. The PT and OT did amazing, with my mother. This facility is very clean and organized. They were absolutely amazing. I WANT TO THANK EVERYBODY IN THAT FACILITY FOR ALL THE HARD WORK THEY DO.

I could not be more grateful for a Nursing Home. My grandma kept falling at home and going to the hospital. She went to Durango health for rehab and got really strong, but was not able to go back home because she had stairs. The Nurse manager Katie was exceptional, she checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed and helped us transition to long term care. We were so afraid to have our grandma living in a nursing home. You always think about them and think of old people that are not cared for and that they stink. We could not be more wrong the staff truly care about my grandma I have never seen her so happy she has friends there and loves the food. She got something we didn’t even know was missing, she has a sense of purpose in her life again. The Activites staff always have something going on from bingo, movie outings, to festive holiday activities. Thank You Durango Health and Rehab.

At present, this decent facility provides an excellent nursing home environment predicated upon person-centered care, a respect for dignity, and a strong sense of community; pursuing core principles and best practices that have been proven to improve the well-being of both residents and staff alike. Emphasis on staff as a cornerstone: It correctly identifies the critical role of compassionate, stable, and well-trained staff, recognizing that high turnover can be extremely detrimental to residents who thrive on and rely upon consistent meaningful relationships, including profound moments of mutual companionship. In addition to this, there needs to be the cultivation of an underlying depth dimension. The depth dimension of the human experience in a nursing home is the pursuit of meaning, purpose, and genuine connection beyond basic physical care. While a happy nursing home provides excellent person-centered care, - a deeper, more fulfilling existence requires transcending mere contentment and engaging with life on an emotional, social, and spiritual level. This "depth dimension" is what elevates the residents' well-being from a state of comfort to one of genuine fulfillment and sustained happiness. It is about helping each resident overcome unique difficulties while continuing to grow, find joy, and maintain a sense of purpose and meaning. In particular, a sense of purpose within the community requires empowering residents in various ways to contribute to the overall community, - providing a powerful sense of achievement and significance. This moves the individual resident beyond being a passive recipient of care to being an active participant in a full and rewarding life. In short, the foundation of a happy nursing home lies in ethical, person-centered care that prioritizes dignity, autonomy, and genuine human connection. What distinguishes the happiest facilities are cultures that move beyond meeting basic medical needs to focus intensively on resident well-being and purpose.

My family could not be more pleased with the care my mother has gotten at the facility since her fall. The entire staff is upbeat, positive, caring, and committed to their work. This includes everyone from the housekeeping staff up through the administration. While it was hard to have our mom away from us, we never worried about the care she was receiving. They even looked after my dad, who spent all day everyday with her. They showered him with care and support as well. Thank you to all who make the Durango Rehabilitation Center a wonderful place to get the care you need when in that circumstance. I wish I could name everyone individually, but this review would be even longer than it already is. God bless you all for the work you do. You’re all angels!

I’ve been so impressed with the team at Durango Health and Rehab. The building is a little older but they have kept it up very well! It’s clean with spacious rooms, but I think the best thing about it is the staff there. They have some team members that have been there for more than 20 years!
