This is my second time visiting this place for a family member and also talking with other patients. The food they serve here in NOT acceptable!! The portions are a joke! They are not serving all 4 food groups! And some meals no protein is offered! Most of the food here i wouldn't even offer to my dog!! Shame on this place. The nurses are fabulous and do try to help and accommodate the patients. But yall should have turkey, etc, to offer if patients get hungry or the food ur offering is not acceptable!! Where is fresh fruit??? No one wants canned fruit alday and everyday! Expired milk! Come on these patients don't come here to eat garbage! Make it acceptable and something to eat! I'm very disappointed in the food you offer here!!

On May 25th, 2024 I shattered my ankle and had to have surgery at Memorial at Gulfport. I woke up two days later in a hospital bed and was told I could not put any weight on my foot. A few days later I was told I was being transferred to Driftwood for rehab. To say I was terrified does not begin to describe my thoughts. When I arrived I was met by a full team that included the director, nurses, rehabilitation therapists and a social worker. They did their best to put me at ease and describe what would be happening in the weeks to come. I was there 6 weeks and had to rely on total strangers for my most basic needs. It was a humbling experience. Each day I was treated with respect and kindness from my doctor, nurses , rehabilitation therapists, social worker( therapist), aides ( the heartbeat of Driftwood), dietitians, laundress and maintenance men. I watched as these hard working men and women dealt with life and death. A lot happens in a nursing home in six weeks and the grace I saw these people show to the residents and their families was awe inspiring. As far as the facility itself well, it is no 5 star resort but is clean and comfortable. No, the food is not prepared by a French Chef but is nutritious and planned to hopefully give the residents the feeling of home cooked meals. If you don’t like what’s served they will try to accommodate you to their best ability. Memorial Gulfport owns Driftwood and needs to try harder to allocate more funds for the updating of the facility and the hiring of more staff. A nursing home that families feel safe entrusting the welfare of their elders in would be a jewel in the crown for the community.

Don’t ever put your loved in here. You are not allowed to call on weekends and speak to your loved one. They take away all their dignity and rights and tell them to poop in their diaper and if they have time, will come back and change them cause they don’t want to deal with them right now! My brother knew when he had to use the bathroom, but they would not assist him. Staff was telling him to pee in his diaper. The 11pm-7am are the worst. My brother would ask to get up for breakfast and they would tell him no it’s not their job. Please don’t put your family there. Only good thing was the activity staff. They were the only ppl who seem to care. Physical therapy was kind as well. Came in one day around 3 and no one knew he had injuries on him. Everyone was blaming other staff. When you would try to find out answer they would tell you to stop challenging them. Please keep your loved one away. We are glad that he got to leave and go home.

I experienced this place was the worst facility ever to leave someone you love from 2005 to 2018 because they don't value family and only show care when you bring it to their attention. I trusted my family's care to someone I thought cared about my father too. In their care he lost a leg, part of his colon and all this was preventable.

Staff is always nice and cooperative.My dad has dementia and diabetes, he needs blood sugar checked before every meal, and they only do it once a day. Older facility, Run down rooms, allot of my dad's cloths has come up missing. We have to keep replacing them. Everytime we visit, which is 2 to 3 times a week, my dad is always wet, needs depends changed. We make sure he has snacks in his room, and within a couple of days they are at least 50% gone. He swares they are taking them. We suspect some employees have sticky fingers.
