Horrible experience. Director had a very rude tone. My son was discharged for something that had not happened. The nurse threw the discharge papers at me and was rude. I was talked into using Hospice by saying it was for comfort only . The Hospice company the Deaconess nurse recommended DID NOT keep my son comfortable. I was told by the Deaconess nurse they would take me back of I didn’t want Hospice. They are refusing to take him back now. In my opinion it is because I am a very good advocate and have held them responsible for their actions. The nurse would not even recommend Deaconess Hospice. Instead referred me to another agency. She said she found Deaconess Hospice to be unreliable.

My surgeon sent over a referral to this agency to initiate services. I received a phone call the day of discharge and was told that they received a referral and would be coming out to the house the next day. I am friends with someone who works at an agency just like this one and I received guidance from him on how this process works. He stated that the day the agency received the referral they are to verify insurance and what services they can or cannot provide prior to discharge so that if there are any issues, they can refer back to the doctor or another agency. I reached out to this agency on the 31st at around 12 or 1 p.m. after hearing nothing from them. The woman who answered the phone said my information was verified but there were no notes entered on when they were coming out. She stated she would pass my information on to someone and I would receive a call back. Approximately 2 to 3 hours later I received a call. I cannot recall either name of the females that I spoke with due to heavy narcotics, but I was able to recall both conversations. In speaking with the second female I was told that their agency is out-of-network and if I go with them I would have to pay out-of-pocket for their services. She asked if I would like to be referred elsewhere and I politely instructed them to refer me back to Bienville because I am not understanding why a referral was sent to their agency. She stated she will reach back out to my surgeon to transfer back to them. After this agency dropped the ball, I did not trust them to reach out to my surgeon office so I did. Here I am, 3 days post-op with no physical therapy. I have to wait yet again to get an approval so that I can start physical therapy at Bienville and try to make arrangements to get there. Thank God that there are some things I can do on my own until I can get the approval. Also, now I am questioning the one day visit they did with my mother-in-law earlier this year. My mother-in-law's Nurse Practitioner did a referral and Nurse came out and did an assessment and we were under the impression that someone else would come back out for her physical therapy since that is why a referral was initially started. So now I am going to check her EOB's and see if they filed claims for visits that never happened. They made only one visit and it was an intake. Even if they decided that there was nothing they could do for her, they could have sent a letter to her or the Nurse Practitioner. I've read others reviews and I am happy that all worked out for them, but in this case I was very disappointed because this is unacceptable, especially when the patient just had a left total hip replacement.

I just had my right knee replaced by Dr Palmer…an excellent job. I had 2 weeks home PT scheduled, and having never experienced it before I was anxious about the intensity and potential pain associated with home PT. DALE was my coach, OUTSTANDING, working my muscles and knee but not to the point of failure. He knew how much I could tolerate and pushed me right to that point. Because of him I am confident about my upcoming out patient PT. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DALE and want to THANK him for his professionalism. Warner Huddleston

My Mom had a sweet and skilled nurse from here, Angie. Her palliative nurse, Grace, is wonderful. She is kind and helpful. She has been an angel for my Mom. My issue is with the weekend nurse, Pam. My Mom's days are filled with dialysis, chemotherapy, doctor's appointments, therapy appointments, ect. When she has a really good day she likes to enjoy it, free from any appointments. All of her other nurses have showed compassion and understood. They have told us, we work around your schedule. I tried to explain this to Pam. She was catty and pressured my Mom into discharging. She told my Mom that she kept cancelling and those appointments could be given to other patients that needed them. My Mom has had several nurses in the past but they never had such a lack of empathy for the patient's feelings. Nursing is about listening to your patient and considering their overall health, both physical and mental well being. This experience today left me disgusted
