About Compassus

Compassus in Payson, Arizona, is a hospice care provider offering compassionate end-of-life support 24/7. The organization operates Payson's only in-patient hospice unit, a seven-bed facility designed to feel like home, with comfortable private rooms and quiet gathering spaces for families.

Care services include nursing, medications, supplies, and equipment covered under hospice diagnosis. The program also offers physical therapy, dietary counseling, and other therapy services. For patients unable to continue hospice at home, respite care provides temporary in-patient stays to give family caregivers needed rest while supporting patients' eventual return to home-based care.

The in-patient facility ensures care transitions are calm and safe, with teams working to coordinate seamless handoffs from hospital or home settings. The organization emphasizes personalized care beginning with listening to patients and families to understand their needs and preferences.

Compassus Payson operates a physical office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., though 24/7 hospice support is available. The program has received CHAP accreditation under the Hospice Standards of Excellence and has been recognized with community awards for care quality.

Volunteers play an active role in the hospice program, assisting with patient visits, meal preparation, household tasks, and office support. All volunteers receive free training at the local office to prepare them for meaningful service to patients and families.

My mom was in this facility for several days prior to her passing and the care she received here was absolutely top-notch. The nurses were so compassionate and caring not only for my mom, but for the rest of our family as well. I highly recommend this place If you’re looking for a compassionate, caring, and comfortable hospice for your loved one

Too laden with hoops to make a referral now. The organization used to be so easy to deal with and now you're unable to speak to the Compassus location directly. Have to speak with others working remotely across the nation that want to gather info and then forward it to the appropriate office. That centralization causes communication gaps and wastes time. Referring to any agency should be as simple as being able to securely e-faxing or encrypted emailing it to them. Not this nationwide organization anymore. Refused to provide me with a fax # for ease of referring. Delays in getting referrals processed means delays in patient's receiving care. Would not suggest using them. There are other smaller/well-run hospices in the Payson, AZ area. Suggest using them instead.

I am so grateful for Compasses and their team of amazing folks. I adore each and every nurse that comes to this house and helps us out. We have an amazing shower nurse that always knows what to do to get my mom motivated to get in the shower, which isn’t a small job to say the least. Martha always does it with a smile on her face. Each and every person pour out their heart on their patience. Can’t say enough about Compasses hospice care!!

We picked a great place to care for my husband after a 3-year terminal illness! The services were comprehensive. Even took care of transport from the hospital in Gilbert to our home in Payson. Staff members were friendly, compassionate, and worked with expertise. The visiting and in house nurses had a direct line to the doctor who made the adjustments to comfort medicine (as needed) on each and every visit. They would always call us back to follow up on the very evening of each visit. This improved the quality of life wonderfully during my husband's last weeks! The facility on Mud Springs Road is huge, private, with beautiful rooms. RN's and aides are always available doing an outstanding job! Respite care is offered there, and I would encourage people to take advantage of that. Staying there is way superior to the nursing homes in town available through other hospice services. My husband went there for his last 48 hours. Staff picked him up promptly at our home. They gave him wonderful ongoing care, and I was able to focus on my husband.... What a blessing! God's grace has led him home with the Lord!
