The night Registered Nurse Amanda called me telling me of my mothers dwindling health at 7PM, on the 23 April 2019 and told me, "I think you need to be here with her" - I hurried to town. I spoke to Amanda and talked to the other nurses who put a oxygen mask on her to help her breathe, blood pressure was taken, temperature and it seemed she was leveling out. Then Amanda commented to me, "I'm sorry I called asking you to come in - Absolutely not - You did the right thing, better to be safe than sorry". I was taught to "prepare for the worst case scenario" - I sat in a chair, pulled in close to my mother, beside her watching her breathe, Patti, a nurse stayed with me for a few minutes, informing me of the buzzer and handing it to me, and telling me she would be down the hall if I needed her, I told her I wanted to sit with my mother for the next couple hours. - five minutes later my Mom's breathing become slower and shallower, I put my hand on her chest and felt her last heart beats - she did not wake up and not in pain, dying quietly, the time was 8:20PM, but I was unsure, I stepped outside in the hallway and saw Patti, waving my hand telling her, "can you come and check my Mom for a heart beat"? She was checked by Patti and she told me, "I'll be right back" and she left bringing back Amanda a Registered Nurse who also checked my mother, listening for a heart beat verifying with a "she is gone", telling me with tears in her eyes, which is what I felt at that moment. Two more nurses came into the room, again verifying her passing - I am so thankful for Amanda making that decision to call me, I was there for my mother at her last moments, she was not alone. She was 91 years old - I had enrolled my mother into Community Springs in January 2017 and her daily care was superb - during the 2 1/2 years my mother lived at Community Springs Tina helped me immensely when I walked into her office to ask a question or to solve paperwork problems (which there was many) I found her knowledge and professionalism is to be superb - my mothers physical condition specifically her lower leg which had a open sore was dressed by Celia a registered nurse and many times I was present when she dressed her wound talking to my mother putting her at ease - very thorough and knowledgeable she answered my every question. I appreciated their "open door policy" -

First my best friend's mom was here for rehab due to a broken femur. The staff was VERY caring, making up for the few areas where the home is lacking. She, unfortunately, passed about a month after being discharged, and just a week shy of her 90th birthday, which precipitated the admittance of her 94 year old sister. She is in the early stages of Alzheimer's and dementia, as well as being somewhat physically challenged. It has not been easy, but the supportive staff is exceptional. The variety and quality of the food is adequate. Permanent and long term residents have a slightly larger room with a window and more space for a t.v. etc. The bathrooms are in the process of being upgraded (a good thing), but the lobby, dining area and back patio are light, airy and welcoming. I would feel comfortable leaving a family member here, especially realizing the quality of care is much better than average. Shout out to Lynne, Kelly, Jared and Chester for the comfort you've provided for my best friend.
