Comfort Keepers worked with me to make me more confident in my home as an elderly home owner. I enjoyed working with them very much and appreciate their help and their time. Jessica answered all y questions and was very kind.

Before taking the job, make sure to ask how they are paying you for their mandatory training. Comfort Keepers pays 7.25 an hour for their training. You will have to do 10+ hours of online training on your own time. Then they make you come in for an additional 4.5 hour long video and sign paperwork. Together the process was 15.5 hours of training and any additional time you spend training at client's home is paid at that training rate. They tried to say this was all 10 hour long training together and it is not true. I got fired for asking questions about pay. They will also deduct $50 from your first check for their own onboarding fee. I was told they don't deduct. I was paid "in good faith" but really, it was what I was owed for my time. I did not even get the $50 back, which they said in email they would pay. The owner Angie Zeck also called me personally to complain and tell me that they do not pay orientation. I asked for this to be in writing and she refused. They know what they are doing is wrong. If you have many years experience like me, skip applying to this place!

Making negative reviews is not something I do often but there are issues with Comfort Keepers that need to be addressed. If you are trusting someone to care for your family member who is unable to speak for themselves I highly recommend that you do not hire caregivers from CK. Although the staff has always been respectful and polite they have repeatedly lied over the course of the past few years. I have been told a caregiver would be on the schedule for a specific date and time- they don’t show up. I have never received any call to let me know they aren’t coming . Yes many apologies but no genuine care or concern for the clients time or issues this has caused. Sadly the caregivers are not trained, qualified , or self motivated with the exception of a few. The management may have began with good intentions but in my opinion they are not able to provide consistency in scheduling, they don’t do background checks and they put the actual clients needs last. I realize this is a common problem and not an isolated issue. Otherwise I wouldn’t have kept trying to get help from them for years. What concerns me the most is the families who aren’t able or available to be there and make sure Mom or Dad etc. are safe, being kept clean, or even be sure they are getting a meal. Part of the problem is hiring ANY one who walks through the door! This is not just my belief I have been told by the caregivers this is the case! Once a girl showed up with her 2 year old and didn’t even know what she was supposed to be doing for me or what hours she was working. I’m frustrated and disappointed that the company works harder to please private pay clients over those who are being used for their government assistance. When they recently found someone to work 2 1/2 shifts a week for me I was told her exact days & hours were set and I was pleasantly surprised. The very next week they changed her schedule and made it very inconvenient for my needs. The first priority with CK is the $ money. The second priority is giving caregivers their most desired schedule, the last priority is meeting the needs of their clients and ensuring they are well cared for. So if you need an easy job and like to babysit adults while playing on your cell phone - it’s the right choice. If your a Client who can make informed decisions for yourself or a concerned family member who truly wants to find help for yourself or a loved one please do not trust Comfort Keepers. I’m writing this knowing it will surely not make me a valued customer. I’m genuinely concerned for those who can’t speak for themselves or have dementia and could be neglected. I’ve even written to the management about my experiences- with no response. I’m very pleased with the two workers I have now but not with the schedule I am stuck with. Please keep all my concerns in mind when looking for help. They have very poor communication and are always stating they did not know who what or why something happed. It’s a shame to treat the most helpless and needy people with less care than you would a pet sitter.

I wholeheartedly recommend Comfort Keepers- during my wife’s 5 months of being sick prior to her passing, they could not have been more compassionate and caring. They made her last months so much more comfortable and painless. Without exception all their home care aides were willing to go the extra mile to give Pamela the best care possible.
