I hired Comfort Keepers to help my mom who was aging, living alone and undergoing cancer treatment. Comfort Keepers had persistent staffing issues. In situations where her primary caregiver was unable to do her shift - which happened fairly often - they were unable to find a backup except for 1 instance. I live out of state and rely on Comfort Keepers, the company I pay to help my mom and check in on her, to notify me about any major updates. My mom always told me she was doing okay, but her health began to really decline 3 months ago. One morning, I received a call from her housekeeper that they had found my mom near death due to a hypoglycemic incident. They helped stabilize my mom and called EMS. Her caregiver arrived a short while after they did and she told them she'd found her that way a few times and that the week prior she had to call EMS to get her out of the bathtub. To my horror, Comfort Keepers didn't notify me of any of this severe breach of duty. After I called to cancel their services, the office manager called and said the owner wanted to come by and have a conversation, apologize and explain that this was a learning experience and maybe they should have known that I've want to be updated about my mom's health.........I told them I was too busy moving my mom but that I'd do a phone call if they'd like. We scheduled it and they never called. They don't care. They say they care, but they don't. I just thank God for my mom's housekeepers - they saved her life in more ways than one that day.

Comfort Keepers has been a blessing for me! My daughter that lives with me works a lot and I am bedbound. My other daughter lives out of state. I would HIGHLY recommend Comfort Keepers as their caregivers are experienced, have much empathy and patience, and there is great communication from the office. Thank you all for all you do!!!
