For the most part, the majority of the nurses and CNA staff were great. Cafeteria anybody else were awesome. The doctor was terrible. I ended up diagnosing my mom twice for sepsis and a couple of times for UTIs. The doctor ignored me each time that I said something to him about her having sepsis or a UTI. But overall, the facility was really great. The only issue I had was with the doctor.

Well mom has been there 7 days, for rehab. Everyone on staff is friendly and asks if you have questions, and wants you to ask questions! They have great food there like home cooked! They don’t scrimp on any food- unlike hospital or other rehab facilities! They are always cleaning , they keep place clean! No complaints here!

My husband was there 3 weeks for Rehab-they were awesome. Staff began to feel like family. I would recommend Chowan Rivers to anyone who needs SNF care.

For the first time experiencing extended stay inpatient nursing rehabilitation care for a loved one, we did not have very clear expectations. Chowan River set an excellent standard for care, patience, professionalism, competence, kindness, and communication. The entire admin and nursing staff did a remarkable job providing the time, customized care and attention specific to our unique needs. As an out of town caregiver for my loved one, At no point did I ever feel isolated or removed from the day to day care my loved one was receiving. The staff is knowledgeable and strives to do everything possible to personalize the care. In some cases the shift nurses went above and beyond to provide accommodations and recommendations for my patients wellness. In addition, the rehab team was also competent, effective, encouraging, and patient with the program and plan. Facing the need to return to an SNF again recently, there was no hesitation to use CRNRC again.

I came to Chowan River Nursing and Rehabilitation after surgery on 2 broken bones on my right leg and surgery on my right knee. When I got here, the entire staff made me feel right at home, All Administration and Staff, Nurses, CNA’s, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Activities Director, Cleaning Staff, Laundry Staff, Cafeterias Staff and Maintenance, were all so friendly and caring. I came mainly for Rehab, after I left the hospital. The Physical and Occupational Therapist are absolutely wonderful. It was a pleasure having them work with me on my therapy each day. You are all a very hard working group! I met so many new friends while I was here, who took care of all my needs, especially since I couldn’t get around very good at first. Thank you all so much for taking the time to show your Love and for being so kind. I appreciate each one of you! You are a SPECIAL Group!!! If I’m in need of Rehab in the future, Chowan River will be #1.
