When my 86-year-old mother fell at home and suffered a broken elbow and a fractured pelvic ring, we were overwhelmed and uncertain about what recovery might look like. In those first weeks after her hospital discharge, it was difficult to imagine that she would regain even a portion of her mobility or independence. Meeting Avni, her occupational therapist from CenterWell, changed that trajectory in ways we are deeply grateful for. From the very beginning, Avni brought not only clinical expertise, but also a rare combination of compassion, clarity, and unwavering commitment. Her communication was consistently responsive and thoughtful—she took the time to explain each step, answer every question thoroughly, and ensure that both my mother and our family felt informed and supported. What stood out most was her attention to detail and her holistic approach. Avni guided us through setting up the home environment with appropriate supportive and assistive devices, offering practical, tailored recommendations for products and services that truly made a difference. She also helped us navigate the often confusing landscape of community resources and insurance benefits, ensuring my mother received all the support she was eligible for. This level of involvement went far beyond expectations. Equally important was the way Avni supported us as caregivers. Especially in those early, fragile days after discharge, her steady guidance and reassurance helped us build confidence in how to care for my mother safely and effectively. Over the past three months, we have witnessed progress we once thought unlikely. My mother has regained meaningful mobility and is returning, step by step, to her daily activities. This would not have been possible without the skilled rehabilitation and encouragement provided by Avni and her colleague Alyson, the physical therapist. Together, they have been an exceptional team. While we are grateful to both, Avni’s dedication truly stands out. She consistently went above and beyond, not just as a clinician, but as someone who genuinely cares about her patients and their families. We are deeply thankful for her professionalism, experience, and, above all, her heart.
