About Cascades of the Sierra

Cascades of the Sierra is an assisted living, independent living, and memory care community in Spanish Springs, Nevada. The facility serves older adults with varying care needs, from those living independently to those requiring hands-on assistance and specialized dementia care.

Families highlight the dedication of specific staff members, particularly Amber and Jessi, who are consistently described as patient, knowledgeable, and compassionate during tours and transitions. Many families appreciate the caring atmosphere and the facility's attention to safety. However, reviews reveal inconsistency: while some families report seven years of positive experiences with responsive staff, others describe serious gaps in assisted living care, including missed meals, slow emergency call responses, and incomplete laundry services. One family wrote that staff members were "caring, helpful and hard working." Quality of care appears to depend heavily on individual staff and department.

Cascades holds a 4.3-star rating across 61 reviews. The spread reflects both strong praise for admissions and memory care experiences and significant frustration from families whose relatives received inadequate assisted living support. Prospective families should ask detailed questions about staffing ratios and service protocols in the specific care level they're considering.

I've been meaning to write this 5-star review for a long time!

A few years ago, I moved my parents into Cascades of the Sierra. My dad moved into Memory Care, and my mom into Independent Living. The transition happened very quickly because my dad suddenly needed a higher level of care, and Amber was incredible throughout the entire process. She helped us navigate a very stressful situation with kindness, compassion, and professionalism, making sure my parents were settled and cared for from day one.

During the short time my dad was in Memory Care before he passed away from Alzheimer's, the care he received was exceptional. Alzheimer's is a heartbreaking disease, but the staff treated my dad with dignity, patience, and genuine compassion. They also supported my mom and me through an incredibly difficult time. We spent many hours there during his final weeks, and the staff truly made us feel like family.

My mom continues to thrive in Independent Living. She has a wonderful group of friends, enjoys the activities and outings (live music in the bar to shopping trips and restaurant excursions) and consistently tells me how kind the staff are. Knowing she is happy gives me tremendous peace of mind.

If you are looking for a senior living option, I highly recommend you take a look at Cascades.

Today I had the opportunity to tour Cascades of the Sierra in Spanish Springs, and I was incredibly impressed. Amber gave me a phenomenal tour of the Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care communities, and I can't thank her enough for taking so much time to educate me and answer all of my questions.

From the moment I arrived, every staff member I met was welcoming, friendly, and genuinely cared about the residents. I also had the chance to meet several residents during my visit, and every one of them had wonderful things to say about living there. Their happiness and sense of community really stood out.

I even enjoyed a delicious lunch in the restaurant, and I was amazed by the quality of the amenities, the beautiful apartments, and the wide variety of activities available for residents. It's clear that Cascades of the Sierra is focused on providing an engaging, comfortable, and fulfilling lifestyle.

I would highly recommend this community to anyone who is considering downsizing or exploring senior living options. Whether you're looking for Independent Living, Assisted Living, or Memory Care, this is definitely a community worth touring.

I can’t say enough about how WONDERFUL the entire staff is at The Cascades of the Sierra. From our first look to the move in and beyond the place is bustling with smiles, positive people, and a can do attitude. Amber L., Chris G., Marie H., Nurse Diane and the list goes on and on get an A+++. Well done, don’t change a single thing.
