If I can give this place zero stars I would!! I am writing this review to express my serious concern and disappointment with the care my father received at this facility that almost cost him his life! I feel utmost worried for the people under their care that don’t have anyone advocating for them! My father recently experienced a life-threatening situation that I believe was not handled with the urgency or attention it clearly required. He was visibly unwell, yet staff repeatedly downplayed his condition, assuring me that he was “fine” and that the doctor had been notified. Despite these reassurances, his condition continued to worsen. And they still had the audacity to say I was exaggerating! If that was their loved one in that situation, they would feel the same way I would! I felt disrespected! What is especially troubling is that when I voiced my concerns, the charge nurse, Terese (or Teresa), dismissed me by stating that I was “just complaining” and exaggerating the situation. This was incredibly disheartening, especially given that my father was clearly not doing well. I felt disrespected because I was voicing my concern seeing my father in such an ill state..yet she had the audacity to tell me to take him elsewhere if I wasn’t happy..how can can you work in a health setting but have no regard to a family members concern for their loved one? The situation escalated to the point where my father was vomiting, and the contents were coming out of his tracheostomy, which was a critical and obvious red flag that should have prompted immediate medical intervention. However, the respiratory therapist failed to recognize or act on the severity of this situation claiming that he was “reproductive”. Fearing for his life, I made the decision to have my father sent to the hospital. I firmly believe that if I had not intervened, he could have died from asphyxiation of the vomit going back into his lungs. Upon, going to the hospital, he was in a much more severe and critical state than what they were stating at the nursing home. He had a kidney infection, another UTI, got pneumonia aspiration, his intestine was paralyzed which is why he was so bloated. Another concern that I had brought up to them when I noticed him looking a bit odd ( which again, they dismissed it and downplayed it saying he was fine as always). His trache was clogged with mucus and vomit. Yet prior to sending him to the hospital, the staff at the nursing home were stating that “he was fine” and I was just “exaggerating and complaining”. I firmly believe, that If I didn’t go, my father would have passed under their so called “care”! This experience has deeply shaken my trust in this facility’s ability to provide safe and competent care. I would not recommend this nursing home to others based on what my family has gone through. I hope this review is taken seriously and leads to meaningful changes so that no other family has to experience something like this.
