I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience with Ziggy (Eric) was unacceptable. A close family member was recently at The Carolton and Ziggy was consistently rude, defensive, and dismissive whenever questions were asked. Rather than helping families understand what was happening/had happened, he seemed to view reasonable questions as a challenge to his authority. His lack of compassion and professionalism added unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation. Healthcare providers do not have to be perfect, but they should treat patients and families with respect and EMPATHY. Unfortunately, that was not our experience and I do not believe Ziggy is suited for a patient-facing healthcare role.

My Father passed yesterday at the age of 64 while in the care of the Carolton. He was able to find friendship in some of the staff. The nursing staff was more than good overall and Brenna was hard on him for physical therapy when she needed to be. My father was callous, but the staff rolled with his punches when they certainly didn’t have to. If it wasn’t for the supervisor, Zippy, I would have given them 4 stars. He was incredibly rude, insensitive and almost acted downright nasty to my family while we grieved and said our final goodbyes. In fact, he kicked us out of a rec room they had provided us while we were in the middle of making arrangements on the phone with the funeral home and alerting family to our father’s passing. He had zero tact and or patience with us while we asked for details. He almost acted as if we were the crazy ones and should have expected this outcome. How he is in the business of short term and long term care I’ll never know. Zippy should resign.

This place is terrible! Most of the staff is grumpy and inattentive. Water jug was never filled for my family member. The case worker needs to be replaced.....never could find the time to meet with us until the day before discharge. She would literally run away from us when she saw us. No chair in the room for a visitor. Borrowed one from the sunroom and was reprimanded by staff to put it back. Weekend staff are almost nonexistent. Aides in the break room most of the day. My family member was given a recliner that was filthy and falling apart. There were never any progress reports and no contact with any medical staff. The two rehab staff that we dealt with were wonderful and did answer our questions. Suggest you do NOT choose this facility for your loved one. It is sub-par in so many ways.

After being involved in a serious motor vehicle accident I stayed at The Carolton for rehabilitation of my broken femur, shoulder, back and hand. I was unable to walk or care for myself. I noticed immediately that the staff were uniquely kind and compassionate towards me. My physical and occupational therapists were compassionate and professional. They helped me safely regain my ability to walk and were ever vigilant to my rehabilitation needs. I would recommend this facility to a loved one or friend.
