The facilities staff have been excellent to our family. We have used two facilities before coming here and this is by far the best facility. The other two were much nicer cosmeticaly but the care didn't compare to what I and my family experienced.

This place is just gross, the smell and the cleanliness is just awful. The staff were polite but that was it I went to see my sister who is a resident and I did not recognize her I brought clothes for her and 2 pair of shoes because she had absolutely nothing and she was wearing men’s clothes and within a hour of me leaving the staff were rummaging through the laundry basket taking her clothes my sister called me crying. The director of nursing was a bully and rude and she was fired there is nobody in charge. Apparently because of short staff the residents are put to bed in the middle of the day which I told staff please do not do that every request that my family has made has fallen on deaf ears. I myself have been in this business for 25+ years and I am having no choice but to remove her because she is not being treated well and hopefully the state will step in and do something for these residents who deserve so much better

Yesterday, I visit this nursing home (Azalea Woods 123 Dupont Drive Aiken SC) one night delivering food to one of the residents/patients there. Unfortunately, the place had a loud odor of urine smelling up the entire facility. The urine smell was so strong it had my eyes watering! In addition, as I was leaving the facility I witness one of the CNA workers rammed one of the wheel chair patient into a trash can, however the CNA worker laughed and didn't even apologized to the patient. She treated him as if he was not human with no feelings at all. Then on top of that the facility was opened for anyone to walk in freely at 10 pm at night, plus no one was at the front desk to monitor the place. To anyone considering this place for their elder family member or loved one …..please please please reconsider!

My grandmother has been in this nursing facility for the past couple of months. The care here is absolutely terrible. The staff seem not to care at all about their residents. My grandmother is gotten up in the mornings and left to sit in a chair all day long. She has been hospitalized twice in with in the past month for severe UTI's. The first time it happened, the nursing staff told my Mom that she had been tested for a UTI and she did not have one, only after demanding that she be sent to the hospital, did we find out she had a full blown UTI and was in the hospital for 3 weeks. Upon returning from her last hospital stay, my uncle requested that she not be gotten up and placed in a chair from now on. We would like for her to just rest in bed as she is near death. The very next morning when my uncle arrived, she had been gotten up and was in a chair again. She has bed sores from not being changed and re positioned regularly. I am a CNA and I have worked in long term care many years and I know that this is not acceptable. The administrator tries to sweep everything under the rug and make excuses for anything brought to her attention. We are in the process of getting my grandmother out of this place ASAP. I would never recommend Azalea Woods for anyone. They don't even deserve 1 star but I couldn't post without choosing one.
