One star because I can’t do zero stars. I do NOT recommend this place for anyone. The staff has zero dignity when it comes to taking care of your loved ones. Personal, expensive items of residents (my grandmother) go missing numerous times. Staff does not have patience or understanding. Staff does not help residents keep clean and sanitary when they clearly require assistance with ADLs. Including brushing teeth, leaving a residents tongue to start turning BLACK. If a resident spits out their food because they can’t chew the food, the nurses have no patience and just take their food away leaving them tired and hungry…instead of getting their dietary needs changed to a mechanical or puréed diet and HELPING them. And that’s after paying extensive extra amounts of money for more personalized care. Do your loved ones a favor and do not do business with this location.

Almost 4 years ago, my family was faced with the challenge of finding a safe, clean and caring facility to take care of my mother who has been dealing with dementia. Following conversations with several professionals who specialize in memory care, the strongest recommendation was for the Brookdale facility in Middleton, WI and we were fortunate to find they had a room available. Our experience with the staff and their care for my mother care has validated the choice we had made. The staff has been very helpful, teaching us about her changing state of mind and the challenges she faced with anxiety, medication and mobility. Over the years, we have been extremely pleased with the sensitivity, patience and kindness they have demonstrated. Family members show up at various times throughout the day and find the facility to be clean and tidy. Staff are consistently attentive and kind. On occasion, we get photos of my mother participating in some of the available activities and when she is alert, staff will have her speak with us over the phone. It is heartbreaking to see a loved one suffer with dementia, but knowing they are receiving excellent care from sensitive individuals offers significant peace of mind. The small Brookdale facility in Middleton has convinced us that we found the best option for her care.

Brookfield Middleton Stonefield goes above and beyond my expectations. All staff care for my mother as if she was part of their family. Theresa, Britta, Sarah and Anne all treat my mother with dignity and respect. When my mother is having a difficult day, I know that they show her the utmost compassion and comfort her when I cannot. She trusts them. The staff at Brookdale also treat me as part of their family. Britta has taken extra time to console me when things with my mother are emotionally difficult for me. Sarah and Anne contact me promptly with any concerns, and Theresa lets me know how my mother is doing. They are able to provide my mother with the care and support that I am unable to give. Having a loved one that is living with dementia is difficult. Brookdale makes it easier to handle, knowing that my mother is loved and well cared for. I am grateful for all you do, thank you.

I was very surprised to see some of the negative reviews. My mom has lived at Brookdale for over a year and I continue to be impressed w/the kind, patient, compassionate care she receives there. The care-givers are amazing and the setting cozy and home-like. The activities staff do a great job of keeping my mom, and the other residents, engaged and busy whether it’s arts and crafts, sing alongs, or games. I’ve worked in health care for many years, mostly caring for elderly folks w/many challenging medical needs, and am very aware of what other area facilities are like. I toured a number of places and Brookdale was, and still is, my first choice! Is it perfect? Of course not—they struggle w/the same issues that all healthcare facilities do such as funding, staffing, and how to best care for people w/not only physical but emotional and behavioral challenges in a setting that has very strict rules as to what can and cannot be done. But they are continually trying to improve and often ask for in put from the family members—I feel that because of this, some positive changes have occurred just in the time my mom has lived there. Please don’t let the opinions of a few disgruntled people sway your opinion of Brookdale—your loved ones will be safe and well cared for there!

My mother stayed here for less than one year. The management ( at the facility and at the corporate level) was really terrible. They care only about profit, not about the well-being of the residents. My mother's new home is amazing and made us realize how bad Brookdale Stonefield really is. p.s. in response to owner response: it is NOT your top priority in practice and your management team at Brookdale Stonefield in Middleton, WI is not equipped to care for people with dementia.
