About Brookdale Bend

Brookdale Bend is a senior living community in Bend, Oregon offering Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Skilled Nursing/Long Term Care. The community is particularly known for its Memory Care services and operates with a village-style design that residents and visitors describe as welcoming.

Family experiences at Brookdale vary significantly. Many families praise the atmosphere and staff warmth, with one resident saying she feels "like a rich Biddy living in a fancy hotel." Families highlight attentive management, particularly the executive director, organized weekly outings, and residents appearing engaged with both staff and peers. However, other families report serious concerns about care consistency over time, including inadequate housekeeping (soiled linens and clothing going unaddressed for extended periods), high staff turnover, slow responses to medication and care orders, and residents spending insufficient time with caregivers. One family wrote that their father "did not feel safe" due to understaffing.

As my mother likes to tell people she meets in her day to day life at Brookdale, "I feel like a rich Biddy living in a fancy hotel." We are there often throughout the week and she consistently says how much she likes where she is living and thanks us for moving her there. I know that may not be the case for everyone's loved one, depending on the stage of dementia.
After living with us for two and a half years, mom needed more care than we could provide. We toured and looked at memory care and senior foster care homes in Bend and chose Brookdale because of the small town, homelike atmosphere. All the staff and caregiver members contribute to a safe, caring, and engaging home for my mother as well as all of the Brookdale residents.
Amei, David and Tammy have responded very quickly to questions or concerns I might have. Kaitlyn, Becca, Stewart, and all of the rest of the med tech's and caregivers are incredible. They have a hard job, yet they do it thoughtfully and joyfully. They are also very good at meeting moms needs and letting us know if there is something else she needs or if she has had a hard night, morning, or difficulties throughout the day.
Something Brookdale has that stands out is their activities and engagement program, directed by Abbie. Abbie provides activities such as bingo, morning chair exercise class, along with many field trips and art activities, all geared for the residents who have different abilities and tastes.
Lastly, and most importantly, Amei and her staff have created and maintain a community where the residents can still experience a familiar quality of life that includes caring for each other and feeling cared for!

My wife, Mary has been at Brookdale Bend for 6 months now. All the people I've met there, from the Executive Director and the Health and Wellness Director to the person who cleans her room, are very sincere, caring individuals.
I have witnessed many incidences of care givers giving special attention to individual residents who needed it for some reason.
The whole atmosphere in the facility is light hearted and sincere. If anyone needs this type of care, I can highly recommend Brookdale Bend.
Dale

Brookdale of Bend is AMAZING!

As a caregiver with an in-home agency, I had the privilege of caring for a resident there. The very first time I walked through the doors, I fell in love with the beautiful village-style design at the entrance. It immediately sets the tone for the warmth and welcoming atmosphere throughout the entire community.

I would sit with my client during meals, and I have to say, the food was consistently delicious and beautifully presented. You can tell the chef truly puts heart and care into every meal.

Speaking of heart, the staff—especially on the Clare Bridge side, where my client lived—put their hearts into their work every single day. Even as an outsider, I could see and feel the joy, compassion, and genuine dedication they bring to the residents.

The residents are happy, engaged, and offered some truly wonderful activities. One of my favorite things was how each day began with a morning gathering that included the Pledge of Allegiance, the Lord's Prayer, daily news, and fun conversations to start the day on a positive note. They even have ducks and chickens! Be sure to check out their Facebook page to see all the creative and meaningful activities Abbie organizes with the residents.

Honestly, this is one of the best care communities I have ever visited. In fact, I miss being there since my client moved away, and I've even considered applying to work there myself.

A huge shout-out to the entire Brookdale team. The difference you make in the lives of your residents is evident in everything you do. Thank you for your compassion, dedication, and love. I miss you all—and the residents—very much. 🤍

I am very happy that I chose Brookdale of Bend for my mother. I have been very impressed by the level of personal attention that she receives. The executive director, Amei, is just wonderful. She hires excellent, caring staff who clearly take pride in their work and really care for the residents-and the families. Amei is extremely friendly and approachable. Brookdale has weekly outings for the residents who are able to participate, including horse therapy, trips to a preschool, swimming, and more, and Amei sends me pictures of my mother after every activity. Brookdale also has daily activities, 7 days a week, including physical activity as the residents are capable, lots of crafts, and group mental games to keep the residents stimulated. I have seen the staff pay individual attention to my mother, including working with her on puzzles, playing cribbage with her, in ways that just never happened in her former assisted living. The food is plentiful and she has actually gained much needed weight. The dining area and activity area are always decorated beautifully. I really recommend Brookdale.

Amei and her team at Brookdale went out of their way to assist with my brother Bill who was a unique case as he was only 58 when he went to Brookdale. Not only was he the youngest person there, he needed a lot of care after suffering 2 sets of strokes. They made him feel very welcome and were super attentive to his constantly, changing needs. The staff was kind, cheerful and attentive. Thank you Brookdale.
