Toured Briarwood Cottages 55+ during the month of Aug 2026, and I’m honestly shocked this place is being marketed as senior living.<br><br>The unit I saw looked like it hadn’t been updated since the 1990s. The AC was 30+ years old, the ceiling fans were ancient, and the bathroom layout was unbelievable — the washer and dryer were shoved directly beside the toilet like an afterthought.<br><br>Management told us they planned to cut down the existing tub instead of installing a real walk‑in shower. Not replace it. Not remodel it. Literally cut a hole in the tub. That tells you everything you need to know about the owners’ priorities.<br><br>The website is misleading, outdated, and has zero interior photos, which makes sense because the actual units look nothing like what’s advertised. “Everything included” was not true.<br><br>Rent is sky‑high for the condition ($1399–$1599), and the $1000 security deposit is absurd for units this old and this poorly maintained.<br><br>This is voucher‑bait housing with cheap owners, cheap retrofits, and layouts that make no sense for seniors. Nothing about this property justifies the price or the marketing.<br><br>I would not recommend Briarwood Cottages to anyone.

Review: Do NOT move in to Briarwood Cottages until you know the rental and living facts!<br><br>This complex used to care for the elderly; now, it’s run by a rapacious owner who slashed services while hiking prices. Since 2024, everything has gone downhill:<br><br>Sky-High Costs: Rent jumped $100–$300/month, plus another $75–$100 now that internet/cable are no longer included.<br><br>Neglect: Snow removal was cut. They expect 80- and 90-year-olds to shovel their own ice and sleet or pay $40–$60 per clearing. It is a "broken hip" waiting to happen.<br><br>Extreme Restrictions: You can’t even light a Sabbath candle or smoke a pipe outdoors anymore. These aren't safety rules; they are transparent attempts to pad profits by lowering insurance premiums.<br><br>Safety Issues: There are occasional (admittedly not frequent) but substantial living space failures that my relative is too terrified to report here for fear of retaliation.<br><br>Bottom line: They charge premium prices for a diminished, restrictive, and increasingly unsafe environment at at a time of vanquished inflation (rents are going down, CPI around 2.5%). On a positive side, the current manager, Kellianne, is a caring and responsive individual. Overall, however, look elsewhere.

Know your rights people! They try everything they can to keep your deposit! My 80 year old Mother put in $8400 worth of flooring in her apartment (with approval) and they still docked her for things like a burnt out light bulb?? Marks on walls? Dust above doorway frames and doors! Pretty sure they don't give anyone their deposit back. Look up the laws on this. This falls under "normal wear and tear" Read your lease. Have them paint every 3 years. Definitely do a walk through at move in and move out! Very unprofessionally run. Even had management that stole from apartments while my Mother lived there. Owners son caused lots of stress for the renters on drunk rages. No special treatment if you die while renting there. No one cares about you! It's all about them and their wallet!
